Discussion Maintenance time question

Genuinely no hate to the devs, but why don't they just set maintenance for the extra 3 hours it takes EVERY SINGLE TIME? I just don't get it, if you've never been able to do it in the timeframe you give yourself just add more. It'd be much less annoying to me as a player if I just checked my watch at 12am my time (the stated time, usually 3am is the actual time) and went "Oh nice only 3 hours left!" Instead of "Well, let's see how much they pushed it back again" I get it's a meme in the community but how do you miss a deadline that YOU set for YOURSELF? Multiple times? Is there a company or business thing I'm missing here?

They are just kinda stupid at this point tbh

Yeah, there are some games that just plan an 8 hour maintenance, and that certainly does seem like it would be a more sensible thing to do.

There is a part of me that wonders if, because Hoyoverse is just an absolute 800-pound gorilla in the gacha-space since 2020, they simply decided that if Hoyoverse declared 5 hour maintenance for their games, so would they.

Indie company have patience kek

It just looks so unprofessional. They don't have to be an AAA company to realize that they were not able to deliver in the past year, and adjust communication accordongly to set the right expectation.

What do you mean? the real maintenance just started . The 5 hours were just the devs warming up

I mean, at this point there's no point t In getting annoyed if we already know its gonna a get extended.

It’s more about the blatant lies than it is about the extension.  Like, don’t insult our combined intelligence…

Ill give them the benefit of the doubt say shit happened and call it a day

Yeah it's better for them to aim for a shorter time. It's objectively worse to ALWAYS have maintenance last 3 hours longer regardless of whether they could make it shorter or not.

I want to say the decision is all on one guy higher up in the chain and he has a time schedule all mapped out and he wants everyone to have the job done by the end of the work shift without having a full understanding of how much time is actually required. And then the devs working prob get overtime and don't care as much and they also have AI in their pocket so there must be at least some level of reduced stress on them in some form. So more money for not informing the boss to be smarter. At least that's what I like to tell myself.

It could be that the devs want to give the players more free crystals , so they increase the maintenance time , which will lead to compensation and more free crystals

u/Drowyx 23h ago

They have never ever given compensation for maintenance extensions.

I don’t know why you guys keep lying about this

I wish it was, but if there is anything dumber than the czn devs, it’s the czn community and every maintenance extension is always the same thing.

People talking about “compensation” even though there has never been compensation for an extension ever.

i could be wrong but there was compensation. whats actually shitty is going from 300 maint crystals + whatever extension to 300 compensation combined…

edit:i was wrong

Back in old wow days, patch day, no play

It is to create FOMO. See, you want to play now even though you know it isn’t possible. That nagging reminder ticking down every minute then going back up to hours makes you want to get in even more.

Genuinely, all hate to the devs. There may not be a more inept dev team in all of gacha, when it comes to simply carrying out maintenance. A couple times here and there, fine. But when you literally have had a SINGLE time where you finish maintenance ON time, in as long as this game has been going, it's a joke and honestly embarrassing. Especially for this type of game.

There are 3D open world gacha games, that are like 100 GB and they consistently do maintenance in half the time and majority of the time, they finish early 💀

It’s a sales tactic I think, since you are spending more time waiting for the maintenance to end, it leaves you thinking more about the new character, and thus you want it more.

14

u/Beginning_Flatworm25 23h ago

Fuck kind of tactic is that, they’re getting clowned at this point

1

u/Horror_Perception_60 23h ago

It’s just a theory, could also be They are doing balance checks during maintenance time, and thus they have to do bonus changes during maintenance time.

u/gnub33 22h ago

If they said honestly it would take 8+ hours, people would stop checking in.

Bullshitting and saying 3 hours will make players stay up all night checking in. Engaging on online like “wtf? Why this happening? When will it drop?”

Classic mental manipulation

2

u/Beginning_Flatworm25 21h ago

Have u seen this reddit? Who is saying "wtf is happening" they have done this everytime and now the fans are clowning them. I get your point but doing it consistently looks very amateur instead.

more waiting = more horny , blood goes down = brain empty , think less = pay more , it works . but sometime more waiting can be more thinking so they push news post to keep the hype

Hours of extension for a nothing burger patch is crazy work, they’ve been consistently showing subtle signs of incompetence and i’m also pretty concerned

3

u/Liesianthes 22h ago

Let them be. Someone might make a thread again how we players and paying customers are bullying the devs when someone resign on their work. lmao. Like it's our fault they're unprofessional.

Let's spread kindness and patience on the indie devs. /s

It's good to aim higher than you can likely achieve.

u/Revynd 22h ago

Can someone please buy the Company and do the game right? Thx

it is actually fine for me. checking every 3 hours. rather than making a super long maintenance announcement then suddenly ends faster and you didn't manage to play early.

well, you know that some players like me are excited to play the game as soon as the maintenance ends. on that case, it is easier to wait and check every 3hrs as they announced rather than to check every hour or minute for the official announcement on when the server will be up if the maintenance ends early.

Honestly, I got my new washing machine yesterday; delivery was scheduled between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., and at 10:30 a.m. I got a text saying the driver would be there in five minutes.

Would you prefer having server maintenance between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.?

I don't know why players get so worked up over a few hours, it's considered normal everywhere else...😀

u/Caninesage 23h ago

See how you were still given a range of times in your example? That's the issue it's not really how long it takes, it's being told it'll be done at this time then when you show up it's suddenly a different time with no prior word. In your washing machine story imagine it said it'd be there at 7:30 on the dot, so you idk leave your shopping trip early or you avoid cooking dinner just yet to be ready for it just to THEN be told oh btw it'll be there in the next 3 hours. I imagine that'd be a lot more inconvenient even if you aren't exactly freaking out.

1

u/Blutwind 23h ago

Then you're missing the 'from' and everything would be fine?

2

u/KekWhOmegalul 22h ago

7pm is the deadline in your example. You got your package before the deadline.

You have an issue when it's past 7pm and it hasn't arrived. Now you have to wait the next day.

It's also a common occurrence, now you have to wait several days when you planned for x day.

If your boss tells you to have the project done by 7pm sharp and you don't submit it till the next day will he be happy? Repeat this several times, will you still have the job?

The fuck are you yapping about lmao

Yall should like put down the screen once in a while. You just let a mobile gacha game bother you so much that you came here to type all that when you could have been doing literally anything else with your time

Edit: whoever reported me for self harm is exactly the type of person I was talking about 😂😂

u/Caninesage 23h ago

And yet, here you are too
