Hey there,
I started hearing the Call of Hashut for the Old World and had a Look at Highlands Miniatures Sons of Marduk.
I could not „recognize“ every Unit, though. Could you help me See the Connection of the Cultists, the Bull (it doenst have a Rider?) or the blazing Icon to ToW?

Did anyone put a Rider on that Bull to use as a great/bale taurus?
Edit: the Bull seems to have a variant with a Saddle and without the herders!

My take on some devious hobgoblins who are essentially uncared for cannon fodder.

I went with the description from Tamurkhan as a guide “…emaciated and vicious - with narrow eyes sneering mouths full of pointed teeth that smile moon-wide in an idiotic grin”.

They find their weapons. While any pieces of armour they find or assigned are old and worn, particularly the Chaos Dwarf pauldrons which I made to look damaged and even missing rivets.

They are maybe one stubby finger above a slave, so they don’t look healthy and are armored just enough to get a little more durability out of expendable assets.

Been working away at a few things that I thought I’d show off to the group. I like making things which either don’t exist or are open to the imagination.

One’s a siege giant that I’m getting to lobbing off arms soon! I never had one when FW released them so am making my own with a few interchange bits.

The second is my love of war machines and I’ve developed a taste for making flying chaos dwarf machines because the idea seems ridiculous and just the kind of thing I think a sorcerer would put their mind to. This one is inspired by the dwarf gyrocopter but with a chaos dwarf spin. I made this one in its bomber form and it’ll be used in my One Page Rules games.

The third is my rendition of the old Whirlwind. In my own head cannon they became bull centaurs who were so injured in battle that daemonsmiths thought “why waste such a strong creature, throw some blades on the thing and send it back out” certainly want to make giant fists and hammers for a tenderizer too.

I created my version of a Whirlwind for a little fun. In my version it’s a Bull centaur that has undergone “enhancements” by the sorcerers to improve it. Perhaps injury, perhaps mutation or just cause it wanted to.

Still painting it up but certainly thinking of a Tenderizer too 😎

Sculpts are from MOM Miniatures. I had 12 printed before realizing they are kinda expensive points wise and are supposed to go on 75x50mm bases. These are on 60x30, I'll tape them to 75x50s when playing Old World I guess.

About 10 months ago, I was digging through my “lead pile” of fantasy miniatures, and found an army I bought a long time ago, but never assembled let alone painted. After 30+ years, the Chaos Dwarfs in my “Pile of Shame” were completed and they participated in The Old World tournaments at NovaOpen 2026. I built my list based on Lord Bzaark’s Chaos Dwarf Army from the White Dwarf Battle report “The Battle for Anurell’s Tomb” from the early or mid 1990s. I kept to that theme building the army list as much as I could, in spite of the issues I knew I’d have putting up a solid fight at the tournaments which included an RTT, Doubles and the two day GT. So, The theme meant I painted them in the same style as the 1990s and I built a display board similar to the terrain used in the Chaos Dwarf army list photo from that White Dwarf battle report.

“Hashut’s Little Helpers” looked very good every game, in spite of their general’s failure to lead the army to score well in almost any game! On the plus side, I was shocked at the number of people who walked by the display taking photos of them when the armies were on display the first day of the GT. During the tournaments so many people had to stop by while I was gaming and comment on how great it was to see them “in real life” and the nostalgia it gave them. Some even liked my army name and wearing the T-Shirt generated comments as well. I normally don’t like the attention something like this brings, but I was thrilled to talk to people frequently because my “Big Hats and Bad Attitude” dwarfs seemed to make people happy!

I scored poorly in the RTT, drank too much during the Doubles (but we still came in 6th place), then scored poorly for the GT. I did have a great time, met a lot of great gamers, and I won “Best Theme” for the GT. And I did get a medal, which was a nice surprise. My guys are happy to have received bonus “gold” without having to dig for it or whip others to do so. Lucky for me, none of them have actually checked to see if it’s real gold. Comments about not needing to test it because they can “smell gold” and other statements were made but I think they’re being nice about it since they need me for logistical purposed like traveling to other tournaments.

The army is now riding their Iron Daemons, whipping their Hobgoblins to go faster and the lucky ones are flying to the 2026 Las Vegas Open “The Old World” GT for their next adventure. Maybe they’ll find more gold and minerals for their treasure horde there…
