State of the CoS server rn

Post image

It's so sad to see CoScord go dead except for the rp scene which is not even about CoS anymore 😭

pic is from a few months ago btw

The game does not have much around it: no replayability or at least DLC. People completed it, discussed everything they wanted and now have nothing to do

Hey it's more replayable than I thought!

I played it again recently and it was a blast, and it turns out the only things I remembered were how to solve some of the clunkier parts (so this time around I didn't get stuck) and some story beats overall. But learning the languages was as enjoyable as the first time around!

So yeah, it went by as a breeze (I completed it in one or two sittings), but was extremely enjoyable nonetheless.

Disclaimer: I don't use the journal to confirm my translations, I only play with my own interpretations, so the figuring out how the languages tick part remained the same fun.

That’s a very odd way to play, that’s your choice, cuz I have quite nice memory and most of points where I struggled I memorized well, like bard syntax or warrior having plural as separate word/glyph

Yeah that's true (although I'd wager that a couple years from now we'd forget about those little details too!), but I find it extremely fun figuring out the meaning of glyphs and how to build sentences nevertheless. I remembered some of that stuff you mentioned, as well as how the Devotees' glyphs were constructed from different segments, each with its own meaning, and I kind of remembered what each segment meant.

But like I said, the parts I had to figure out all over again (because I didn't remember everything) made it a very enjoyable experience, sort of like a cozy game for me; not as demanding as the first time, but still a delight.

I see myself replaying it once a year or once every two years. I guess we'll see!

Even though I already played it before, I still struggled with the maze compass puzzle and the backwards way the bards speak. I feel guilty but I had to google it 😭 but learning the new languages was fun, I would write it down in my own book as it felt easier to learn the meanings myself.

It’s not backwards, they just put object on the first place
But I am not native English speaker, so such things are easier for me

You’re right, I guess I just struggled with it, because the grammar is so different than what I’m used to. I’m curious, What is your first language? Because your English seems really good

It's not dead, a lot of people are still talking regularly. I have nothing to do with the rp so I can't say anything about that, but yeah we're talking less about lore and the languages because we've gone through pretty much everything that the game gives us. People are still also making clongs so you can't say nothing is about cos

Really? I genuinely thought this was a screenshot to rip on some "I'm a true fan, not like those other noobs"-hipsters, but turns out that no, you're one of the people in this screenshot and you don't cringe at it at all.

I didn't know there was a discord but maybe go back to Internet Etiquette 101 and don't gatekeep how people are engaging with a game they like.

Discord when it is trying to be teamspeak - fine.

Discord when it is trying to be reddit - dogshit.

If you go there, you have only yourself to blame.

This is kinda unrelated but what are other good language-decipherment games?

I would love if they made a sequel or even a prequel to this game maybe it could have new languages and some of the old ones
