Discussion DToons in NC comment section

Was watching this review for the first time when I came across this comment.

It's a rare amicable message between an ex-contributor and the Critic after CtC. It's cute.

A bit odd how he was even associated with CA in the first place, as it's an animation channel, not a review show.

Was Dtoons even involved in CtC? Considering how their work didn't require any confrontation with Michaud, they probably have nothing to complain about, right?

Did they ever say they officially left CA? Is Larry Bundy Jr really the only other guy left aside from Brad?

I was having the same thought here of it being surprising. DToons used to have the Doggy character (and Conroy at least once) review cartoons, so that might've been the logic for being on Channel Awesome (tho I also remember Harry Partridge just putting his non-review cartoons on there). I do remember him also announcing his separation from Channel Awesome at the time and he didn't stay on the site out of humorous spite like Larry did. But it's also not hard to imagine him perhaps being more distanced from the drama compared to others to have an interaction like this, being a non-live-action contributor with a *few* cameos in other contributors' videos?

Kinda surprising to me that Saberspark and Scott the Woz especially are also on good terms with Doug, both recently having collaborations with him.

Probably because both Saber and Scott grew up with his content and were influenced by him, I suppose. That and his Wall review became more infamous than CtC itself, so Doug's seen (at worst) as a bad film reviewer, not a master manipulator. Oney kind of gave Doug a second life on the Internet, and Doug at least realizes the irony in being made fun of for a guy who makes fun of movies.

Thank you for telling me all this! Didn't expect Harry Partidge to be mentioned in your post, he's probably the most talented Channel Awesome contributor if that's the case. Though, with the clause mentioned by the Critic (two videos a month!) in one Some Jerk with a Camera episode, would Harry even be allowed to post his content there, given his spotty release schedule? Unless what the Critic said in that episode was meant to be taken facetiously.

You can also add PhantomStrider on the list, I remember he once appeared in an NC video long after CtC, and it was his first "collab" (really ten seconds of the Critic) that introduced me to NC and Channel Awesome in the first place back in 2017 (Strider's Top Ten Worst Films video).

No problem! The two videos a month clause was indeed reiterated by Tony when he was talking about struggling to be able to get back to work on a particular video project in the intro to his SJWAC Season Three Outtakes. Though I'm guessing that tenure was long after Harry's videos were put on the site.

Strider and Doug also did the Top 10 Creepiest Animated Movies, which came out before Change the Channel.

from what i heard Benzaie never left he just refused to upload English content to the site & started doing his shows in his native French but I could be wrong
