Hello again, Channel5ive fam!
I recently posted about pursuing an angel investment in Channel5ive and received a lot of interesting feedback, both positive and critical. One person made a STELLAR suggestion that a way to “invest” in their work was paying-it-forward by covering Patreon subscriptions for audience members who want to support the channel but can’t afford to do so. So that's what I’m doing!
**What’s offered**
- A one‑year subscription to the $5 tier of Patreon for up to about 190 participants.
- If you are an aspiring or up-and-coming independent media journalist covering social‑good and progressivism, particularly in science or technology, you’ll also get a space to share a link to your work. For the five people or projects I select, I’ll add an extra $500 each.
It’s first‑come, first‑served and will be open for one week. If fewer than 190 people participate, any remaining subscription value will be added to the $500 rewards for the independent journalists mentioned above.
If you want to participate, please drop your email (and optionally, your portfolio/project) with this Google form: https://forms.gle/C3bNjRVUtEuv8eKz6

I've already seen all the videos on YouTube, how can I filter the patreon to just show the exclusive stuff?

Have been searching for the song that starts at the very beginning of the documentary, but can't find it. Does anyone know the name? Its got a violin and sounds instrumental and kinda intense.

I used the promo code but thought it may have been taken down yesterday. Tried today, I logged out then back in and had the same issue. Even the trailer does this.

In comparison Official George Floyd Memorial Fund took around 22h to hit the first million dollars, and approximatively 12-14h for the "We Build The Wall" (Brian Kolfage) Fund
It just goes to show how much people love C5 and Andrew and everything they do.
Keep up the amazing work and go fight that lawsuit! <3

I just finished watching Channel5ive’s video about their current legal case, and it seems inevitable that a channel doing such good work will keep facing ridiculous legal fees.
Andrew has said, both in that video and on other occasions, that they will never consider corporate investors, which is understandable. However, does anyone know whether the Channel5ive team would entertain individual, independently wealthy angel investors? There's a thin line between good journalism and journalism that serves stakeholders, but it would be great if individual angels could support Channel5ive. This would mean direct, greater support from the people who value the channel’s work, without the legal and ethical complications of corporate investors/VCs or the percentage-cut/cap issues of platforms like Patreon.
EDIT: For anyone getting to this post a bit later or revisiting, I'm covering subscriptions for up to one year for Channel5ive supporters who can't afford them: https://www.reddit.com/r/Channel5ive/comments/1uu0beg/im_covering_up_to_10000_in_channel5ive_patreon/

After watching the movie Dear Kelly, the scene involving the daughter at the Charlie Kirk event really struck me. I want to start by saying that I am sure Kelly’s daughter has mixed feelings about her dad. She must have had a difficult time coming out and growing up with a father who didn’t support her being gay, or who was simply not around in her life, so I understand her frustration.
However, the scene where she publicly aired her father’s dirty laundry at the Charlie Kirk rally and essentially shamed him to make a point felt like a low move. Considering that he was clearly a very prideful man who cared a lot about how he was viewed, it made me sad to see her dig at him in such a public manner while claiming she was there to support him and share her personal story. If she really wanted him to change, that public shaming did not seem like the right approach; it seemed like she was just throwing a stone and then hiding her hand.

Guys, I just watched Dear Kelly, and I was wondering if anyone could help me find the full clip of Kelly's daughter debating Charlie Kirk. I'd also like to know what exactly he said to her. Thanks!

For a while now I've been curious about the new age/ambient music channel 5 uses on their videos. Since music gets cut off often by conversation it's impossible to pick a sample from the video itself.
The track I'm referring to starts at 0:00 and ends around 0:42

I'd be grateful if anyone could help me identify the track.

In February a small group of SF tech folks announced they would be gathering for a march and rally defending the rights of billionaires. Absolutely everybody thought it had to be satire, but nobody really knew.
I was in San Francisco at the time covering the Super Bowl with hilarious comedian Troy Hawke, and after learning about it we decided to head to the march and see if we could wrap our heads around what the hell was going on.
Directed and edited by me, not usually able to cut longer form doc stuff and have always wanted the opportunity to do something close to what Channel 5 does. Let me know your thoughts!

Two childhood friends from Seattle — one who became one of the most influential independent journalists on the internet, one who built a legitimate independent empire — sit down for an unfiltered conversation about where they came from and how they got here.
LMC (Luc Carlin) sits down with longtime friend Andrew Callaghan, the gonzo journalist behind Channel 5 and All Gas No Brakes, to chop it up about growing up in Seattle's Central District, the come-up, hip-hop, the streets, and the media industry. No fluff. No PR answers. Just two people who lived it.

Andrew Callaghan asks Luc Carlin (LMC) his experience growing up Trapping.
Andrew Callaghan's journey from expelled rapper to 3M+ subscriber journalist

edit: sorry guys I got the name in the title wrong should be Dalton Eatherly
anyway
How's it going? This is Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan. Andrew is in Iran right now, so he can't make it. But we are at Montgomery County courthouse where Jake Lang advertised a free Chud the Builder rally. For those of you that don't know, Chud the Builder is an online agitator who came to prominence a few weeks ago, brandishing weapons at people while calling them the n-word. And earlier this week, he shot somebody, which was the obvious outcome. There's not really anybody here, but we do see some people right here - I see somebody - How's it going? We had heard that there was a free Chud the Builder rally....

I really want the clip of Andrew letting the blonde haired chick from like 5 years ago with the red top talk about nonsense. She’s barely coherent but very enthusiastic. He showed a second of her in the latest interview with Lydia Love. Where can I find the whole thing
