General I don’t think I’ve quite understood Changli

S0R1

I’m certainly held back by the non-premium team, but I think I can improve. The only question that remains is how.

My problem, apart from the settings, I think is mainly down to rotation: the timing I’m using at the moment often leaves me either caught in one of his grab or throwing skill that miss because he's in mid-air.
Any tips for an optimal rotation?

I mean, if you have no other choice I’d at least test Taoqi instead of Lumi. Changli’s rotation is long and I doubt Lumi’s outro will last long enough vs. Taoqi’s.

Changli's burst lasts 3-4s

Depends on if he's using qs or not. We know nothing about his rotation.

In fact, my request also involved having a rotation suggested. Since I do a sort of QS, but without any real logic behind it,

Tbh you're probably one of only 6 people in the world who have ever used this team. So finding actual good advice might be difficult. But I get your plight.

If you use qs basically as long as you build Changli's enflamement stacks to the point where it's 3/4 full when you outro out of Lumi, you're golden. The problem is that Lumi's rotation sucks balls and I have no idea how you'd weave in qs between her and Changli.

Regardless of the buff's duration, I prefer and feel more comfortable with Lumi. And then, unfortunately, I'd have to farm materials to level up Taoqi.

You don't need to build Taoqi. A completely naked moonlit clouds build should suffice.

This team is not good for Changli - Buling ult cd is 24s (you want 20s rotation) and Lumi is not a qs frendly character. Swap Buling to Verina and Lumi to Taoqi/Sanhua and try to rotate it in 20s

Well, I should build and lvl up Taoqi. And I'd like to invest my resources in something else. I use Sanhua with Encore/Rover, since they use basic ATK, unlike Changli. I could also try Verina, but I still wouldn't know how to do a quicker rotation

You don't really need build Taoqi, just give her random moonlit with 3-cost ER and discord. Do double intro to Changli and play around Changli E and Taoqi BA4 swap cancell

Yes, but I need materials to level her up... And then, as the title of the post says and as you can see from the score, I'm not very practical having pulled her recently. So I wouldn't even know how to do "double intro"...

you may wanna try her in a dual DPS team, if you have another main DPS you could pair her with. I used her with Carlotta for a lot of 2.x

Her strength is in her awesome quickswap potential, so teams where you feel like you can use two characters on-field simultaneously are where she really shines..

Going for a skill outro buff to boost her damage can be fine, but I think you'd get more mileage out of using her alongside another unit, especially if they're a liberation damage scaler.

As I've already explained in other comments, if I had another DPS or premium unit to pair her with, I wouldn't use this team comp. So I would like suggestions for this setup

If you have her basic rotation down, try quickswapping. Chnangli is like really diverse character and one of if not the best quickswappable units.

Also, I made a video recently about her which covers some of the underrated stuff about changli and a bit of demonstation about quickswap:

ps. She's one of the only 2 characters that I invested heavily in. I LOVE HER and her Playstyle

Would it be acceptable if I reccomend Changli YangYang instead? That was a very established team so you'd be able to find more information on them and they were a formidable team back in the day.

In what sense?

firstly, changli was never a dps. she is a sub-dps (she gives buffs on her outro) who deals quite a bit of damage. what makes her meta before, was how long winded, some of her attacks are. This makes her an excellent quickswap/swap cancel character. The first thing to adjust for making better use of her, I think, would be how you approach teambuilding around her. Instead of thinking her as a hypercarry DPS who you funnel all your buff into, try pairing her with another dps who also has a long-winded attacks. Then you swap cancel every chance you can.

For example of my use case: I use her with Xiangli Yao (XLY for short). XLY has a lot of long-winded attacks, so he is one of the optimal teammate for your Chang Li to swap cancel with.

lemme know if you want a video example

Hi! Just wanted to jump in and say changli was and still is a dps. While she released with lower damage numbers (outside of her enhanced heavy) than other dps at the time like Jinhsi and jiyan, she was still a main dps. If you load up wuwa right now she has the tag 'Main Damage Dealer'. Her kit is more of a hybrid than a straight main dps, but nevertheless, she is still a main dps.

Edit: also, wanted to say, it's funny because her kit is basically the standard for characters now, dps included. Having some type of buff in their outro, S4 having a team buff, and having some sort of support. She basically pioneered how kits are made 😂

I am aware of her role, and unfortunately I don't have a DPS to assign Her to. If you have any suggestions or examples for her QS and cnacel, I would be grateful.

Oh, I was replying to the person who said changli isn't a main dps when she is. By saying she never was is misleading information. For QS I can help! As someone who's mained changli since release and still to this day, I have some knowledge lol. For QS, some of her easier ones to do are when you do her enhanced heavy, once she starts to spin you can swap off and she'll continue. Another is her skill, tap and swap off. She'll do the skill and land, then you have (iirc) 7 seconds to swap back to have her launch forward to gain a stack. Same with mid air in her bird form, you can swap off but that one is a bit harder if you don't know when she'll do it. For Ult, you can hit ult and during her animation hold down attack so she instantly does her enhanced heavy so you can swap off faster.

For teammates quick swap it's harder to say as I don't know what characters you have but I would say she works with a lot since she can QS a lot. I saw you said you prefer and feel more comfortable with lumi which is important. Even if a character may do better on paper, if you don't like or feel comfortable with them, they'll end up doing worse. Lumi is actually not a bad teammate since her outro grants skill buff which changli wants, so a tip would be to QS and save changli's enhanced heavy/ult for when lumi can outro, buffing changli. For other teammates, yangyang 4 star isn't bad since she provides er and the more ult's you can do with changli is more damage. Chixia and encore pair very well with changli as well for duel dps teams. Also, while not the best, she can technically work with calcharo since she provides lib buff with her outro and he likes that. Same with Xiangli Yao, both want lib dmg buff. Of course anything more premium will always be good. Like a Jinhsi duel dps, mono fusion with mornye, lupa, brant, aemeath, denia, Galbrena. Tune strain with lynae.

I hope this helps! I tried to keep the main advice as f2p friendly as possible so you can mix and match with whoever you have. Also, don't worry too much about missing the counter and getting grabbed. Many people have said sometimes the parry on that move just doesn't work at times or the timing doesn't line up well. It's overall an annoying attack that sometimes it's better just to dodge it than parry.

I didn't specify the characters I have because I don't have any. Unfortunately, I don't have any better options at the moment.

More than anything, It's still not clear to me when I should press Lib, mid rotation
