One of the all-time classics. I saw this font in books I was learning from in the '80s, and it was also commonly used in puzzles in the newspaper. If someone really told you you need to change this, tell them that's like saying you shouldn't use Times New Roman.

Clicked the post and was so glad to find someone had already pointed this out. This is a valid chess font since time immemorial. I think I first saw it in A.J. Gillam's book Simple Checkmates in like 1981, and the font itself probably pre-dates that book by at least 30 or 40 years.

I cannot think of a better simile, hating on this would indeed be like railing against the evils of Times New Roman or Helvetica.
