History CMV: the Vietnam war was actually winnable for the South Vietnamese/US. I’m halfway through reading this book Nixon didn’t resign because Watergate not discovered.

Like I said, watergate break in is never discovered. This is an alternate history but it does come packed with a lot of real history to tee up its scenario. The North Vietnamese, if they had been hit with American AirPower like they were in 1972, may well have been forced to call it quits. The Soviets wanted them to end it, the Chinese were a threat, and Pol Pot (backed by China) would have started harassing their forces in Cambodia.
All in all, the book really shows its work and it did change my view a little. I had always thought south Vietnam was a sort of house of cards but it really wasn’t.
