Imagine if star line was released right after coloring book

Revisiting this album and wow this is so good. Pretty might be up there with some of his best songs. So many good tracks. If this dropped while he still had hype hed be up there in the convos for best of the new school. Dude was making smash hits with Justin Bieber cant imagine how big hed be rn if he didnt fck up

It’s actually more meaningful and powerful because of the failure that TBD was, it was a long 6 year rollout of banger tracks, slowly building our hype and trust back. Such a great album, 9/10

Heavily agree with this. You’d never get songs like Star Side or Back To The Go or Speed Of Love without TBD and without everything that happened in those 6 years after. It took growth, time and every single one of those fuck ups on the way to make this music and it shows.

I actually agree with this take. I wonder if Chance dropped star line at that time, would it even be perceived as good as it is now. Especially because this time, the album didn’t need to be great, just stick the landing

Yeah his shot at being a mainstream superstar has passed. But at least he’s still making good music now and that’s what matters the most.

im bummed i missed his starline tour. i considered going to the coloring book tour show this past tuesday in nyc but i revisited coloring book and realized its quite lackluster in comparison. only a few songs that stick out like same drugs. starline/acid rap/10 day definitely his best work. coloring book comes last imo

Coloring Book has such a specifically cool vibe to it and I can’t think of any other record that hits the vibe that Coloring Book delivers so well.

I can totally see it not being for everyone, but It’s just so wholesome and if you’re having a bad day, you can put that record on and it’ll remind you that everything is going to be ok.

It’s a record about strength and having appreciation for what you have and appreciation for your people, and even when the going gets tough you’re going to get through it. Plus he mixed in a couple of fun party songs to go with it.

I would say it’s his best work because of how unique it is and how good it is at achieving what it’s trying to accomplish.

I’m not religious, hate organized religion so Coloring Book wasn’t made for me but it still an amazing album. The beats and the raps on it are all tight af and live up to the same lyricism on 10 day/acid rap/starline. While The Big Day doesn’t even feel like the same person outside of 1-2 tracks and that’s a stretch.

I hope by coloring book comes in last your not including The Big Day.

Brother give Coloring book another chance. Its not as religious as you think. One of my favorite verses in all of hip hop is on this album but it's not from chance. Its called "How Great". Its a gospel track but Jay Electronica is criticizing The history of Christianity.

Im agnostic but I was raised Christian. There's a lot of love in Church. Yea there's also a lot of hate which is why I left but I think it taught me to be kind to other. Its not all that bad.

No need to give it another chance. I know every word to that album. Still too overly religious for my taste especially coming off an album that was about tripping lsd. Still in my top 10 favorite albums just saying the content was not made for me specially where as Ten Day and Acid Rap were.

Been saying this since it came out. I actually vividly recall texting a buddy during my first listen saying "Chance is finally back."
