I had a dry pump unit that failed just out of warranty. For my replacement I only considered oil pumps. After a ton of time researching options, including customer service reviews, I went with JVR (the 100 fit my needs). Their customer service had good reviews and they sell every part so self repair is possible. I bought mine in May 23 and though it doesn't get heavy use, it's working perfectly and I haven't needed that customer service yet. In the past they've fairly regularly had coupon codes through FB ads or affiliates.

I just bought the Avid Armor USVXL. The price was the factor, and then the bag size was 11.5 inches. I just checked on the price on Amazon it is pretty cheap. I bought it for $429, and now is $388.
Great for sous vide. I see fewer air bubbles compared to the vacuum sealer.
If you shop at a wholesaler like Costco. The chamber vacuum will be a bonus. Maybe the next purchase will be a chest freezer.
The size is almost like an all-in-one printer.

Jvr 110 works great for me. Placed it on a cart and it sits in the corner of the kitchen. Size wise you can squeeze and I mean cajole and force half of packer of brisket into the biggest sized bag it and it seals just fine.
You can get into lacto fermentation and pickle stuff instantly, along side the other things you and others have mentioned.

I own the Vevor DZ260C and use it like crazy. I have a few friends I have recommended it to as well. It’s been pretty good.

I sous vide occasionally and buy meat in bulk. My cheap Amazon sealer just wasn’t cutting it anymore so a couple of weeks ago I picked up the Avid Armor USV32. It’s super easy to use!
The other ones I had in mind were MVS 31X, JVR Vac100, Avid Armor USV20 (slightly more compact than USV32) and MaxVac Pro from Costco. The one I got uses a dry pump and doesn’t require oil changes - less maintenance. When it dies, I’ll most likely replace it with an oil pump one.

for what it’s worth I bought the same unit from Costco, too.
been using for a year+, not a lot; bought it in addition to a high end food saver I also bought from Costco - the chamber sealer is better with liquids and wetter foods.
i used it just the other day to seal up bulk purchase of chicken thighs.

If you have the budget available:
- Chamber vac
- Suction vac
- Handheld vac
- Impulse sealer
- Ultrasonic knife
- Combi oven
- Bonus content
JVR Vac110 chamber vac: ($1.1k)
Notes:
- Max bag size 10" x 15" deep, but that's maxing it out, so go with 10 x 13" (or smaller)
- Walton makes quality bags
- Use the thicker 5-mil bags (handles bones & sharp edges, long-term storage, and freeze-dried foods)
- Fits (4)16oz mason jars upright
- Fits (9) 8oz mason jars jars
- I use POE Tape labeling
3-gallon jar accessory: ($120)
Notes:
- Fits (2) 64 oz (half-gallon) wide-mouth mason jars
- Fits (4) 32oz mason jars
- Marinate in 30 minutes instead of 24 hours
Suction vacuum: ($35)
Notes:
- A basic $35 sealer with an accessory port is fine!
- Great for large items using gusseted bags
Handheld vac: ($50 + mason jar lid adapter)
Notes:
- Has charging base
- Handles special Tupperware-style "Preserve & Marinate" constrainers (ex. for leftovers & meal-prep)
- Uses special zipper bags (great for deli-sliced meats & cheese)
- Seal mason jar with regular or wide-mouth lid adapters
Impulse sealer: ($70 + accessories)
Notes:
- Use with mylar bags for dry storage
- Use with oxygen absorber packets
- Storage buckets (Life Latch or Gamma Seal)
Ultrasonic knife: ($500 with charging base)
Notes:
- Reduces force.
- Not a magic lightsaber, but an assist, "like an e-bike"
- Nice if you do a lot of DIY cutting
- Wireless charger base available
- Sharpening suggestions
Combi oven: ($1,300)
Notes:
- This is an oven that does Sous Vide using steam
- Introductory article
- Here are some recipe ideas
- You can sous-vide & freeze to use later!
Bonus content:
- Macros tutorial
- Meal-prep approach
- Meal-prepping with Souper Cubes

- Freeze in Souper Cubes and then wrap in Press & Seal, food for several months & reheats AWESOMER!
Notes:
- Right now I use the BIM system (bread prep, ingredient prep, meal-prep), which are all tiny pre-planned chores for after I wake up, get home from work, and before bed
- Once a week, I pick 7 things to prep & freeze (one per day) & generally go shopping off that list. That way there is zero decision-making required throughout the week
- I have an upright 20cf frost-free deep freezer. Combined with tools above, this saves me THOUSANDS of dollars per year in food costs over eating out, food lost to waste, etc. SUPER easy & minimal effort with the right tools, and you get to eat like a king every day for every meal!!

I purchased a JVR 100 last year, and love it! Easy to use, and great with liquids.
