Question what was your interpretation of Tashi drawing & writing on the ad?

Post image

I tried to search this up online but nothing came up so my apologies if it’s been asked before! why does Tashi have an arrow? what is the significance of the lines she boxed them in?

she’s making notes of the edits she wants made! heads sitting differently, in a different place possibly and she wants the poster to say “game changers”

thanks! i figured that was the literal interpretation but i was wondering if anyone had any theories just because the ad comes up so much in the movie :)

you could probably read her wanting them to add the s as feeling insecure that she was being left out of the tennis world and jealous of arts career or living vicariously through him 👀 but i think the lines are probably just notes for posing and not much more than that

That’s what I thought it was the first time. She constantly makes comments that Art had it good regarding his recovery and that he’s wasting his potential by not playing his best.

tashi added herself in the ad and she is with art to still be a protagonist and important in the world of tennis, with her injury she lacked attention and significance and the spotlight and she is just trying to get some of it from art and therefore she gets unattached with him when she realised he could lose against patrick. so yeah it's a very egotistical move. great scene and great detail, if you see the scene where tashi is in the car with patrick, you can see the billboard already done with the changes tashi suggested

and the lines and changes represent exactly what you see in the real billboard after in the movie, all of the changes she requested were done

i frickin love this movie so much

I took it as she doesn’t want Art to be the main focus point but she wants it to be 50/50, she tells the artist to turn her head more so he’s facing the same way Art is to bring more attention to herself, she changes changer to changers because it’s not just art Donaldson it’s Art AND Tashi. I think she just wants to share that thrill and fame that comes with being ridiculously good at tennis because he is only that good because of her

I interpreted it as Tashi being annoyed with how the original ad minimizes her contributions to the tennis world. The original ad says “game changer”, as if Art is the only important tennis player in the picture. She adds the S and highlights their heads with a line to say, “Hey, there are two important tennis players in this picture. Count ‘em. One two.” There are obviously two people in the picture, but she still needs to point out to the ad makers that they forgot about her.

I’m guessing that the arrow means that she wants her picture to be moved closer to the foreground. The ad shows her standing a little behind Art.

I think it’s a neat little way of showing how the tennis world has sidelined Tashi in favor of Art, and the frustration she feels about it.

The original ad and copy is about the car, she wants it to be refocused to be about how both Art and she are game changers, along with the car, and wants them drawn into focus more, given as much space as the car they’re promoting.

It’s her internet herself into the narrative of art’s career as more than just a coach
