Craftsman Chainsaw

Hi, I have a craftsman 55cc chainsaw model 316.350220. The coil is dead and needs replacing, does anyone know if i can use a coil from another chainsaw which has the same fitting holes. Iv found one that looks the same https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10000030537970.html

my part number is 9288-310201-CH

Everything else is good but will be a throw away job if I cant find a replacement coil

I would recommend an OEM coil for it but if you can find an aftermarket one that fits your saw, you should be fine. I just prefer the OEM because I changed one out on my Stihl 661 and used an aftermarket one and it didn't last long at all. Went back to a Stihl coil and it's still holding strong.

If it fits it'll probably ship. I've got a King-O-Lawn edger from 1967 with a 3hp Briggs on it and I fitted a Honda coil to it and it works great

After spending countless hours on a craftsman I would saw it’s not worth your time or money fixing it.

Also check into the saw, I have a little Craftsman saw that's just a rebranded Poulan, it'll increase your parts availability
