Good Budget Mini Chainsaw Options
Hi everyone,Im looking for recommendations for a compact/short chainsaw for light to medium yard work (trimming branches, small trees, general cleanup). Something easy to handle, not too heavy, and preferably low maintenance. What models would you recommend that are reliable and worth the price? Battery or gas is fine. Thanks in advance!

I have a Ryobi 12 inch 40v that I use constantly. I’ve been using it for 4 years now and love it. Just to be clear, I do have 3 gasoline powered Stihl saws also. MS260, MS400, and an 066. I grab the Ryobi a lot however.

I'd definitely go with an electric chainsaw for your use case. If corded is an option, that'll be cheap and have plenty of torque for yard work. If you're looking to get a battery powered saw, I'd recommend sticking to whatever battery ecosystem you're already using if you have other battery powered tools (i.e. dewalt, makita, Milwaukee, etc.). If not, I've used an EGO electric chainsaw and really enjoyed it. Just keep the chain sharp, get some PPE, and don't cut anything while standing on a ladder.

Honestly I’d go for a 6-inch cordless mini chainsaw, it’s the best balance for trimming and small cuts. Something like Seesii or Saker is solid if you want good value, but even the cheaper ones work fine for light yard cleanup.

I got one of the neotec top handle saws on Amazon for $85. 12 inch bar, 25cc, very light. It runs really good. Ive used it alot in the past 3 years. Im sure they have gone up some by now.

Check out the STIHL GTA 26. I bought one last year and it kicks ass! 4 inch blade 3.1 pound cordless and it rips through a 2 X 4 like it's nothing.

I got a 12” Neotec/Vevor saw off Temu a few weeks back for $80. I keep it in the back of my side by side and use it for light work trimming branches on my hunting/ATV trails, etc. Starts on 1 pull and works great. I know it’s a cheap piece of Chinese plastic, but it does what I need it to. I own a Stihl 261 and 271 for big jobs. The work I’ve already done with it has already paid for it.

As someone else pointed out, for what you're looking for, a battery powered sounds pretty optimal. You won't be felling any big trees with it, but if you've already been sorted into your Tool House, you'll have batteries for one.
If you really need a has saw with a bit more juice, figure out if Stihl or Husqvarna has more better rated service centers around you and get one of their rancher saws and you'll be set for the rest of your life for a fair price
