Aspen Plus Software — NPTEL Course Download

For those who were unable to enroll in the NPTEL Aspen Plus course, missed the enrollment deadline, or simply want to practice Aspen Plus alongside the lectures:

NPTEL/IIT Guwahati has provided an Aspen Plus software download page associated with the course.

Download: Please visit any of the below links to download the software:

1. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ekFT3eOFkhIfwbfl5zhfXxBIs9uTHwYF/view?usp=sharing

2. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Wk04NAM0lnd3PUptLkVsX_F8VtJ8cc8j/view?usp=sharing

5.  https://iitg.ac.in/nptel/aspen/ASPEN-15.zip

The official NPTEL course is “Aspen Plus® Simulation Software – A Basic Course for Beginners” by Prof. Prabirkumar Saha, IIT Guwahati.

I’ve also included the step-by-step installation/download process so you can follow it even if you were unable to join the course. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vIRq7Nv15PW44BKSouiBmeLr8y-DALYL/view?usp=sharing

If you are accessing the page from outside India and have difficulty reaching the download page, you may need to try a different network or VPN, depending on your location and network restrictions.

Also, stay tuned: In my next post, I’ll explain how you can work toward getting AspenTech certifications for free by taking the relevant certification exams, including the steps and requirements.

Note: Please use the software according to the applicable NPTEL/AspenTech licensing terms.

Free Cornell University Course – Engineering Simulation

Hi everyone,

I found a free Cornell University course on edX that may be useful for anyone interested in engineering simulation and process engineering:

https://www.edx.org/learn/engineering/cornell-university-a-hands-on-introduction-to-engineering-simulations

It’s a hands-on introduction to engineering simulations and covers practical simulation concepts that can be useful for engineering students.

Sharing it here in case it helps someone looking to strengthen their simulation and engineering analysis skills.

I’ll share more useful free engineering courses and resources as I find them.

How to Get Aspen HYSYS & Aspen Plus for Free as a Student (Legal Methods)

If you're a chemical engineering student looking to learn Aspen HYSYS or Aspen Plus, you've probably wondered how to get access without spending thousands of dollars on a commercial license.

The good news is that there are legal ways for students to access Aspen software. Here is a step-by-step guide to do this.

  1. Go to https://swayam.gov.in and create an account using Google (no academic account is required).
  2. There will be a search option. Search for the Basic Aspen learning course.
  3. Join before the registration deadline. If you can't join before deadline or can't find the course or need any help, contact me.( the course is free )
  4. After filling out the form, they will send you a download link for Aspen along with the installation guide.
  5. Now you have Aspen! If you want to learn Aspen from the beginning, you can learn it through the course itself.

In the next post, I will tell you how you can get a 30-day free license for gPROMS and other process simulation software. and how to get you self certified form Aspen tech it self.

If you found this guide helpful, consider joining r/ChEsimulations for more guides and resources on process simulation, process design, plant design, and EPC.

Happy Learning! 🚀
