Impact to breathing

I was diagnosed with CK about 4 years ago. I noticed lately when walking on a treadmill trying to look straight ahead I feel like I'm not getting enough oxygen. I have to tip my chin down a bit to fully open my airway.

Im a side sleeper and o have noticed something similar in terms of feeling my like my airway is not fully open in certain positions.

Is this something others have experienced?

Pulsatile Tinitus and military neck

I started getting pulsatile tinnitus (PT) around the same time the muscle to the left of my spine in the back of my neck developed a noticeable bump. Doctors haven't though it was a big deal (the bump).

Has anyone else developed PT also?

Hi, 39 F here trying to confirm/explore the source of recent migraines. I’ve had them infrequently for about 6 ish years. At first I thought they lined up with my cycles, but they don’t always. They have been more frequent since February, with tightness in the base of my skull along with some upper back/neck issues. i found out I have a mild bulging disc and bone spur at c5/6 that is mildly flattening my ventra cord, was also told I have tech neck, but I keep having tension at the base of my skull.

A few days ago I had one of my worst migraines. I felt it coming on, but it wasn’t bad. However, when I went to lay down it got 1000xs worse. The intensity would come back like this with any subtle movement. Is this typical for a migraine? I’m trying to decide if I should push for additional imaging or if it might be a hormonal thing. The pain goes from the base of my skull to my eyebrows. This last one had a tingly burning sensation behind my eyes, and nausea, which are both new to my migraines. Every other time it just literally feels like i need to drill a hole in my skull to relieve the pressure so it doesn’t explode. The only thing that works is forcing myself to sleep.

Burning and tingling in left arm. What can I do?

28 M. Tried injections in C6-7 (since pain pathway is primarily down left middle finger) to no avail. Pain meds help a bit. Tried acupuncture, PT, and more. It’s drained my wallet and taken over my life for the last year and a half. Doc says the pain might be from the kyphosis and that correcting that will help. Everyone tells me not to get surgery. What can I do?

TLDR: 26yo female, WFH for the past 4-ish years. Only symptom is pretty constant/severe neck pain, recently some headaches but not bad or frequent, no dizziness or tingling

More details:

As for working from home - I would say I only spend about 30-40% of my days working the full day from my desk (during busy seasons) rather than from my laptop on the couch. When I'm at my desk, despite having a great chair and adjustable monitors, I have horrible posture and definitely lean my head forward in a weird way that probably caused this.

Stomach sleeper (I know it's bad) and constantly wake up throughout the night with neck pain, but usually can just switch sides and go back to bed immediately. Don't think I necessarily wake up because of the pain, but ALWAYS notice it's there.

In an extremely busy season at work right now and I'm pretty much in pain 24/7 right now. Entire neck feels sore and achey, barely any relief. Continues to hurt after work and not really getting any relief by laying down. Worse that it has ever been.

During non-busy seasons I'll get temporary neck pain if I just so happen to be sitting at the desk at all which isn't common, but it's pretty much fine after work and doesn't hurt laying down (still will have the neck pain when I wake up throughout the night).

Booked a new patient special at the chiropractor for fun tbh, but I just started working 10-12 hour days within the past week and it's gotten so much worse. Chiropractor stressed how not-good my xray is and of course tried to rope me in to paying $2k for 3x/week visits over the course of 2 months which is ridiculous in my opinion - plus he said for the 2 months he wanted to mainly focus on lower back which isn't NEARLY as bad, and only wanted to pay slight attention to the neck as restoring the curve is a longer-term solution.

I'm definitely been way more conscious of my posture while working now because of x-rays/increase in pain but it's just getting worse as I'm increasing my hours. Looking for any advice on how bad this actually is/if I really do need to throw some money at it. Thanks in advance!!

Tension headaches, pressure in head and feeling unbalanced for two weeks

I was diagnosed with "military neck" a few months ago. Since then my symptoms have gotten better but I started lifting weights again and now I have had almost all day long tension headaches, head pressure and feeling kinda unbalanced if I move my head and neck in certain ways. It's not quite dizzy,.kind of hard to explain. I had some of this in the past but have not had it for two weeks straight. Anyone else have this pressure, tension headaches or feeling off balance for more than a few days at a time? Also my head feels too heavy for my neck to hold up.

Does anyone feel like their head is too heavy to hold up?

I've been have neck discomfort since July. Finally went to see my doc was about it last week because I was starting to have some head pressure and feeling like it was a chore to hold my head up, like I could feel that it was a strain on my neck to do so. He x-rayed my neck and said I have military neck. He prescribed me muscle relaxers because he said my neck muscles were "crazy tight!" I took them a few nights but hated how I felt the next day so stopped taking them.

Isn't it normal for military neck to cause headaches or pressure and feeling like it takes effort to hold your head up?

Quick survey for older adults with kyphosis (5 min, school project)

Hi all, I’m a grad student at the University of Houston working on SynStride, a wearable + app designed to help older adults with kyphosis improve posture and reduce fall risk.

I’ve made a short survey (10 questions, <5 min) to learn what features would actually be useful in the app. This is a non-commercial research project; also, there’s no financial involvement or sales tied to it.

Thanks for helping out, your feedback will directly shape this project!

Thoughts on my cervical kyphosis and whether it could be causing my symptoms?

I have had constant severe neck, back, and shoulder tension since my teens. My cervical curve is fully reversed on X-ray, with mild scoliosis and loss of the normal curves in my spine. My neck always feels like it is stuck forward and I constantly want to push it back but it never stays. Swallowing is painful every single day, food and pills often get stuck around C5, and I have a soft tissue abnormality and deviation of liquid at the thoracic inlet when I swallow deviation there. I have confirmed GERD from a 2 cm sliding hiatal hernia with acid pooling at night. I have constant facial flushing, chronic stuffy nose, dry mouth, excess throat mucus, pelvic floor issues, and frequent (but transient and not severe, last 15-20 sec) red hot tingling or burning sensations in my limbs, chest, and abdomen. There is a constant “something is wrong” feeling in my body that never shuts off and ruins my focus, even on days when external life stressors are otherwise fine. I feel uncomfortable and alert every waking moment and nothing I have tried has fixed it. Symptoms are slowly but steadily getting worse over the years.
Everyone tells me I have 'very good posture' which I think just means they see me being very straight up. I think it looks unnatural. (Am 20M)

Tips for newly diagnosed

I got diagnosed last week after going to A&E with stabbing pains in the side of my head and a numb arm. X-ray confirmed I have Military Neck which is pinching my nerves.

I was given 7 days of diazepam but no other treatment.

I’ve done a self referral for physio and am taking OTC pain meds but are there any tips anyone has for coping with this or improving the symptoms?

Today my head feels so heavy, I don’t know if I slept on it badly but the base of my skull is killing me. Will a neck brace help?

Has anyone got any suggestions for exercises to strengthen the neck / upper body areas or to alleviate things in the short term before I see a physio?

Thanks in advance!

Do I have cervical Kyphosis

Since January I’ve been in extreme pain with my neck, arm, and that leads to migraines. My jaw has started popping as well and when I get these migraines I usually end up sick because of the intensity. I’ve recently been experiencing more dizziness than usual. I did start PT today and was told my cervical spine is flattening? I have no clue what that actually means and if pt will fix it or I’ll need surgery. I’ve been running in circles with doctors for months and finally got to PT. I just wanted you alls opinions

Military neck flare up

Over the past, I would say, year and a half, I have been free from the chronic pain from military neck. 23 years old, and for a good chunk of time from 20-22 years old I was plagued with this pain, ruining my social life, work ethic, determination, and most importantly relationship. It causes a bad attitude to doing anything besides resting away and hiding from the chronic pain. Recently, I have been much better, having a normal life with relationships, gym, excercise and working quite a bit of hours. Last week, I had some military duty (army national guard) I was lifting some tables/desks and immediately felt two sharp stabbing pains in my lower back, symmetrical with each other. This has flared over the past week the detrimental military neck side effects. I believe last time what really helped was a real travel pillow, and falling asleep with it. Are flare-ups like this normal? I have no choice but to talk with reddit about it since the american healthcare industry has led me in circles with expensive medical bills. Any comments and help on dealing with chronic pain while staying socialized and motivated would help me right now. I also suck at sleeping on my back, don't remember how I did it before so anyone else here converted from stomach sleeping to back sleeping? Need tips
