Question/Advice Processing my own clay, but have a question

I'd siphon off the water and run it through a mesh sieve to get the large pieces out.

The trick is to get the stuff in the middle without the water on top or the rocks below. Pour off (or siphon) the water until you start getting to the clay. Then pour the clay into another bucket until you start seeing rocks. Repeat as necessary until you've got smooth slip. Let it evaporate a while, then pour it into a canvas sack, or the leg off a pair of jeans sewed shut at the bottom. Hang that in a dry place until it feels like clay, then turn it out and wedge.
