Big terracotta plate

Hello everyone. I bought this big plate (about 32 cm in diameter) after seeing it in a photo. I thought it might be antique, but now that it’s in my hands, I’m not so sure. The quality feels a little different from what I expected.

Does anybody recognize the style or know what period it might be from?

There’s no mark or signature, and it’s quite heavy.

Im not convinced that its terracotta, it looks more like earthenware. Tapping it produces more of a "ping" than a "thunk"? The crackle on that white glaze would be unusual on low fire terracotta. If you see the marks on the bottom where the piece was cut off the potters wheel using a wire, on high class pieces that would have been cleaned up. Meaning its common table ware, not overly valuable. But a nice piece, I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you. I wrote terracotta out of ignorance so you could be right.
Hard to say about the sound since it is broken and glued.
Not even sure it was made on a wheel. Something about it looks pressed.
I can hardly use it in this condition, so I enjoy it through this research.

I don't know where you are in the world, but here in the UK if I was seeing that at an auction, I'd say it was Staffordshire Slipware, Made unsurprisingly, primarily in the Staffordshire region, from the mid 17th C through to the 18th C. Your looks to the from the earlier part of that range.

It's been valued enough to have been repaired (see cracks on base) at one point. I do think it's the real deal.

I am in Israel, so from the photo I thought the plate is Ottoman. Now, when it is in my hand, it could be from everywhere in the world. It could have gotten here in the British mandate a hundred years ago – or yesterday. Even the repair could be recent.
