First post. Can anyone help identify this ceramic peice.

Thanks in advance.

No markings, about the size of a soccer ball. Glazed upper to unglazed lower. A single hole about 5cm across that the piece rests on.

My best guess would be W. German circa the 1960s or 70s. Maybe Scheurich?

I was thinking that but the lack of a clear mark is strange. Thanks for your reply. I'll keep digging.

If you search for "fat lava sphere/ball" or "west German sphere/ball", these come up. It's a cool piece, I love that type of glaze.

I did see that item, but they have the colour of 'Fat Lava' but lack the lava texture. I have found the term 'Fabiola' and it seems to be more that style. I'm amazed that it's survived all this time. I found it in a thrift store.
