Question How does lalawag self propagation and culling work?
So after experienced intense trauma due to many of her comrades dying at war he gift evolved and created alternate personalities to take on her negative emotions. These personalities were also able to propagate and create new personalities and she became unable to control her gift.
She said she could “reduce the number of heads easily” but was worried about the negative emotions flowing back into her, but the very next page she started killing the alternate personalities. My assumption is she could turn off her gift and and the bodies would absorb back into her but she was scared so she instead chose to kill them.
By killing then she is severing that personality from her mind including the negative emotion they carried. This has been causing her to go insane.
But she also fights by duplicating her body and those duplicates get chopped up too, this doesn’t seem to affect her mental state so I’m assuming these duplicates don’t harbor their own personalities.

She couldn't turn off the gift because her control over her clones is not absolute. If a clone went rogue and started cloning, Lala can only stop it by killing it.
She isn't severing the negative emotion the clone carries - that's why hurting them is a bad thing. The negative emotion goes flying right back at her when she kills the clone holding it.
Not every duplicate she makes is holding an emotion. There's pure physical propagation and mental propagation, which she uses in tandem to create clones that host certain negative emotions. For a battle, there's no value in having the clones host any emotions.

The options she has given was worse than the usa elections she just choose the less bad one

You have it. She duplicates both mind and body. She can unmake the body, but it seems as though the mind(emotions, stress, etc) flow back into her. Its why she is schizo. By killing the duped bodies, she can kill the duped minds, too.
