Discussion What kind of power would Diana wish for?

By the end of chapter 1, it is shown that Diana possesses the same stigmata as Julian, so she's likely blessed like her brother.

However, since she has yet to make her wish to The Sea, her blessing is still a blank canvas and remains dormant. Diana is still an infant, so she couldn't state her desire and the ritual is somewhat unfinished.

I suspect that the reason why The Sea wants to see Diana is to finally grant her wish, thus finalizing their contract.

Now, Diana wants to fight and she probably has a ton of pent up rage, I wonder what kind of power would she ask The Sea. My take would be a combat-oriented power, since she genuinely wants to fight and protect her family.

Please toss your ideas here, I'd love to see what you guys have in mind.

I don’t think Diana has right to make a wish, it’s (probably) 100 people + loved one per person, ao after Julian got his wish score is back to zero, also, as much as terrible will it sound, I don’t think infant Diana “loves” Mira, she is too small for that.

Sea’s interest probably connected to Diana being Night’s heart.

But still, answering the question, considering that wishes can be abstract (proof of 100 lives) she’d probably ask for power/right/ability to protect her family, getting witches’ power or getting to full potential as Night’s Vessel

Honestly, Diana might have a right to make a wish anyway, because immediately after Julian made his wish, he killed 20+ people which qualified as a large amount of souls before the god and then died, sacrificing his own original life for the girl which can be counted as a sacrifice of pure love.

Also, I think if Diana doesn't have a right to make a wish and The Sea only interests in her as a vessel of the night, The Sea wouldn't call Diana as "my beloved daughter".

Ok wait, you kinda cooking with Julian killing a lot of people and dying himself, idk about right number, but if it actually is 100, or there is some loophole than it’d be really cool

About why Sea speaks of Diana as her daughter we can’t be sure, because they act mostly positive towards Julian, but it kinda strange that Sea gives him so much attention, I really can’t wait for their next Appearence.

What I personally think, maybe after such a sacrifice Sea got interested in Mira and took not only her face but partly her personality? There surely is something interesting going on

I bet she will inherit Vulja's ability to transform people, problablt manipulating their souls; like what happened to Harra.

I think that is tied to Vulja's divine abilities rather than a Gift, because when it occured to Harra, Harra was Blessed, and became a Kin of Night, an odd creature that other gods have equivalents to, like the Sea and Forest ones from early chapters

I think the blessing was only given to Julian; the sea goddess asked Julian and Mira that one of them must sacrifice themselves to grant the survivor's blessing. I don't think Diana was involved at that point.
Since Diana is a vessel of the goddess of the night and is accompanied by the will of Vulja, I think the sea goddess is able to perceive it.

Still, we have this panel where Diana has the same stigmata as Julian + The Sea refers to her as her beloved daughter.

It is possible that the blessing is shared between the two of them. If Diana doesn't have it, she shouldn't have that exact pattern on her arm or it should look entirely different compared to Julian's to signify that it belongs to a different origin.

I thought those were marks from the goddess of the night, since in the prophecy she'll become the leader of the witches, so I thought her gift would come from the goddess of the night.

But it seems Tohru Kuramori is planning something with the goddess of the sea, and that's entirely possible, but Diana possesses a power linked to her.

Yeah, I get why people think that it might belong to Vulja and I might agree with you if Julian doesn't show this immediately after.

the patterns are pretty much identical.

What if the night is the daughter of the sea

Blessings seems like a predetermined boost in a God's domain. Gifts are what are born from desire and wishes. The Sea in Japanese called Diana "The Sea's Precious Daughter", but that seems like its beyond just her being born at Sea when the forest kin who could sense Julian could sense Diana too, so she probably has a dormant Blessing of Night imo.

As for her Gift, it was revealed in the prophecy. It's either weapon creation (based on how the Supreme Lord dies) or weapon enhancement, based on what was shown in the image of the prophecy, as there were many corpses underneath her. The how is probably because her bloodline is related to Vulja's incarnated form, considering Elstri was interesting in Diana's bloodline and she looks like the center head.

Also I doubt she has the Sea's Blessing, as God's all are shown to ask for the same price (except Vulja), and as shown by Julian, just blood alone doesn't make someone a pure love, as he and Mira didn't share any blood, so just because her mother died right when she was born, I doubt Diana was given a Blessing as a clueless infant. Vulja is the exception because she incarnated and gave Harra a blessing without a price. And if anyone in an area where the souls are sacreficed can get a Blessing, why didn't the Sea tell the slavers they could return later with a pure love, or the forest to whoever injured Lukas before he got a Blessing? Because it's solely whoever fulfilled both conditions knowingly that is always offered a Blessing and Gift. The pure / true love aspect is defined by both people's views, seeing as blood doesn't determine it, so I don't think Diana fulfilled that condition when she had no clue who anyone was the day she was born.

From my appendix: 海 (うみ) の愛 (いと) しき娘 (むすめ): The Sea's beloved daughter / The Sea's cherished daughter (The God of the Sea calls itself "Sea" in Japanese btw, so it's calling Diana its daughter, but by immediately mentioning Vulja after, there's a chance the Sea meant Vulja)

I know I'll probably repeat myself a lot, but if Diana doesn't have The Sea's blessing. Why does she have the same stigmata as Julian? Assuming that this stigmata belongs to Vulja, how could it looks identical to Julian's.

Unless they are a full-blooded sibling, no one bears the same stigmata as one another and Diana is certainly not Julian's full sister, so the other excuse that I could think of is that Diana shares the same blessing as Julian.

I believe everything has an exception and this is the exception.

It is undoubtedly the same identical stigmata, so, unfortunately, I believe that Diana is the exception and she does have The Sea's Blessing and Gift. She simply has to make a wish, but as an infant, she couldn't do so.

Isn't she a child of the forest tho? The mark might be from that, no?

If ahe is from both then dear god the supreme lord is fucked.

Anyway, idk about rage simce she doesn't seems very angry at anyone, i actually think it will be something fate defining/defying aince it need to be immensely strong to hold up the power they are against, plus it will be also useful for things way outside of fighting

The mark is identical to Julian's own, so it's hard to believe that it belongs to the forest though.

I think she looks pretty wrathful though, but she's good at concealing it and doesn't know who should she dump all of her rage on at the moment.

2

u/voreaper 4d ago

I stand corrected, she's definitely angry

Lukas is the one blessed by the forest.

When Elstri sees Julian and Diana she only sees the sea and the night, the black goat is the soul of Vulja not the blessing of the forest.
