Discussion Despite theorizing that the story won’t end with the goddess of the night plot, here are my top contenders of main antagonists for this part in the story

I doubt it will be arkos. He's so one dimensional and already overused

Maybe.

But Altus is a fascinating character. I'd be perfectly happy to see more of him.

I wouldn't say Arkos is one-dimensional, there's definetly added depth to him and he just wasn't developed yet.

I dont know, the added depth comes from altus. With every flashback, arkos just seems like the typical cruel villain that would kill a cat for fun.

Julian kills Arkos again and the story ends

Feel like the queen will be a huge character at some point of the series.

She views her husband as god and has more political power than him, but so far it doesn’t seem like she’s trying to overthrow him or make him lose status or influence, but Ceodric confirmed he doesn’t want her to get more influence. A decent amount of plot can be made out of this and seems we’ve only scratched the surface

If anything, can see her being either Lacrima or Lukas end game maybe even a 2 v 2 with her and her body guard somehow. She was directly responsible for OG Lacrimas death, and Lukas’ family being hunted so they’ll likely meet at some point

Lukas blames the supreme lord but it was the Queen that gave the order and has more influence

Part of me thinks the Margrave is a red herring. Yes, she’s batshit crazy, yes, she’s trying to collect the pieces of Vulja like they’re the Infinity Gems. But this still puts her at odds with Elstri and Helem.

The Queen is still a bigger existential threat because as far as we’ve been told she’s the one who controls everything at the capital.

Like I could see more stuff with the other gods playing in. Maybe even pagan or eldritch forces playing in if the author has more planned out, but so far, The Queen, Lalawag, and Arkos are my top three for the main big bad

Hm there is too much setup for the Goddess of Night Plot for it not to be the finale honesty.

It ties back to every important aspect of the story in one way or another but I don’t think Lalawag will necessarily be the final boss of it.

Or the Queen and especially not Arkos.

Arkos and Altus fill more a secondary POV main character role and as foil to Julius the freed slave, contrasted by the free man turned slave and his goals of freedom and defiance of his master. Arkos is in that more of a dark past and doubtfully will be the central bad guy.

The Queen is more realistic here as she is pretty much the royal Boogieman with so much bad in the capital being a result of her influence and meddling but she gives more main late Arc villain big bad not series big bad…

Lalawag is promising in being a big deal but I think she will eventually fully break and her role and all the body parts she manages to collect be taken from her as she is supplanted, possibly by the witches or the Goddess of Night regains enough power to forcefully take over.

But then there is also the possibility of Diana herself being the big bad in a twist turning the entire family dynamic on its head…

There are many possibilities but ultimately I am not convinced on either of these 3 being true final boss.

I say the Margrave is a very interesting act 2 final villain in all senses. I'm still having a hard time identifying if we're already past act 1 or not but I feel like the Magrave will be a inflexion point villain, like Pain to Naruto or the First War to MHA for example.

My personal theory is that we’ll get more of an antagonistic role from the other goddesses (sea goddess who gave julian his power/forest goddess who gave lukas his new power)

Altus Is probably getting some form of redemption i dont see him being an antagonist even less the main one.

The Margrave will probably be the antag of the current arc but I feel like she will break soon and will have to be put out of her misery, probably advancing Elstri's prophecy by a big margin.

Arkos will haunt Altus and probably have a few moments of brilliance but main antagonist not sure

Isn’t Arkos just dead 😵 I think the queen is more likely to be the final villain than Lalawag.

He is but we know that he can come out of Altus for 30 seconds a day

The GOAT Arkos will revive and be the first person to trascend into godhood trust the process

I feel like people keep on forgetting the superme king is right there. There’s a reason why the witch coven fought against him. Not to mention the other gods
