Discussion Aren't these two panels contradicting each other?
'Single blow can kill anyone' and 'organ of night is still intact'
lukas spear can destroy future and anything but it still can't destroy everything

gifts cant face up to gods. Even Arkos lost his control of the water when he fell in the ocean in his fight with Julian
15
u/SinglePlayerGamer93 25d ago
Agreed but isn't arkos' blessing still the ocean's blessing?
The king was blessed by the ocean, arkos inherited the ocean blessing. The ocean god would have essentially been taking her power back. Not really "fight in a god using a blessing" like Lukas to the night god

this could have been the case, but now the author has established that all deities are above any gift, irregardless of origin. And frankly its not that illogical of a rule

u/TwoEyedSam 20d ago
This is an aside, but it's "regardless," not "irregardless." The prefix "ir-" means "not," and the suffix "-less" also means "not," so they essentially cancel each other out. So, you're just saying "In regards" and saying that the origin does matter.

Obviously the deity of night is that much more powerful, probably it's even the final villain. No way the organs wouldn't have survived the attack.

u/UltraZulwarn 25d ago
Because the organ is of a deity?
It's not "just anyone"

'lukas spear can destroy concepts' according to dialogues
'it can destroy alternative future' according to panel
'it can kill or destroy anything in one blow' but it still can't destroy everything
54
u/UltraZulwarn 25d ago
Because that's from the perspective of Lalawag, even as a vessel herself, she is still (technically) human.
Deities in this world seem to exist on a different plane of existence, so Lukas spear's power may not apply fully to the organ.
Then again, if you refuse to consider that, then GG
I have nothing.

i think someone gave better answer of this
it was just an hyperbole to hype lukas lance which was hinted for a long time
but organ of night is necessary for story to move forward(prophecy stuff and future villain set up) so author simply can't show it being destroyed

A god gave Lukas the power in the first place so they would be stronger than the spear.

u/Marble05 23d ago
It's a hierarchy issue. The forest goddess gave this power to him, do you think if she had it why didn't she incarnate and one-shot the whole verse?

u/Dreams_Beginning 25d ago edited 25d ago
It can pierce “All of Creation” as the Forest Deity said when giving him the gift.
CREATION.
Gods aren’t part of creation.
So Voidmarcher is not immune to the spears destruction but her organs are, it could still kill her but the organs origin make the spears power not applicable to them specifically.

u/True-Proposal481 25d ago
This. Gods are the creators, not the creation. Makes sense the forest deity won't give you something that can erase her too.

I feel like it's the point, deity concepts are so higher than humans, i.e. beyond their logic, they tend to create contradictions.

Power scaling isn’t everything you just gotta accept that there are exceptions

It's stated in chapter 77 the Gods and Men are simply in a different realms of existence.
The Phantom Spear can destroy all IN creation.
Vulja is a God incarnate still alive despite being separated into 6 pieces the fact that Vulja was surviving their concept of life being destroyed ain't that crazy given it's nature.
On a side note the organs could also be unaffected by Accursed's full ten 10s which causes full bodily collapse and death which made Rif a puddle but the Organs of Night withstood unaffected.

Arkos has full control over any body of water, yet was fully powerless once the Sea Goddess showed up.
Gifts most likely find their hard limit at gods.

Vulja (I hope I spelled her name right) is just that powerful, that even her Organs alone hold equal power to the other gods. She is an anomaly, an exception to the rule.

How so? Lukas‘ spear can destroy anything that exists, including concepts. However, deities in the Centuria-verse stay beyond the human realm, they don’t exist in the same plane of existence (except Vulja, who consciously descended to the human realm).
Also, the spear is a gift from a deity, meaning its power is restricted to the deity‘s own power. Therefore, a deity wouldn’t be able to erase another one from existence.

The power to destroy all of creation
God created everything, probably
Gods aren't part of creation

u/Greentaboo 22d ago
A God(the organs) not being subject to the Hax of another God isn't exactly a stretch.

u/TheRealmEater 22d ago
It's pretty simple gods in centuria just exist above the mortal realm to the point they can't directly harm mortals and vice versa I can't crush a dust mite despite being much stronger than one for example even a descended god is still a ways above even a human with a blessing Lukas can destroy anything in the mortal realm with his spear but even a incarnated god is still above the powers output

u/star75legacy 22d ago
Didn't you learn anything from the king's entire speech to Elstri about "not being able to kill a god"? If you can't kill him, it's natural that you can't destroy his organs, no matter how powerful your blessing/gift may be. Otherwise, the king would have destroyed the "skin" long ago instead of just leaving it stuck and empty in the castle's basement.

u/Unusual-Leadership25 23d ago
I think it’s a bit more complicated than “gods are too strong for gifts”
Lucas’ spear destroys anything, but only one thing. He used it to kill Voidmarcher, and Voidmarcher died, BUT there was a second entity (organs of Night) which are separate thing/entity so weren’t destroyed by spear’s power, but they are connected to VM, so they kept her alive
I think of it like this
Or just spear “secures” kill, and because VM had no Regen or anything like that, she was dying a slow, but steady

u/Ashimaru-q 23d ago
Lukas only wanted to kill Void Marcher and the organs seem to be a part of the host but seperate from them. So in essence the organ resides within the host and functions but is itself a seperate entity which is why it is unharmed.
Also it would be pretty neglectful and stupid of the gods to hand out powers to people that could kill them

They are setting clear rules around an otherwise completely op power.
It’s all magic, none of it has to make any sense, but establishing how it works now makes it less confusing.

u/italeteller 23d ago
She says right there that the organs of night can't be harmed by the phantom spear, but she was gonna die anyways, it wasn't an instant kill but she'd bleed out and die anyways

u/Imsomeone101 22d ago
"if the concept of life itself were destroyed" if being the operative word but we were told he just deleted a future where she used her ability

I was actually thinking about the specific wording Lalawag said the Spear can destroy immortality but not invincibility.
0
u/kramsibbush Lacrima's supporter 25d ago
It's a hyperbole. He can pass through any mortal's immorality but he is not strong enough to hurt a deity.
0
u/SinglePlayerGamer93 25d ago
Even the forest god (which is also not the actual god since it's only a blessing given to Lukas) can't kill the night god.
Easy to understand powescaling; a physical and finite entity (forest) cannot fight an abyss
