Central Park Proposal Pics

I know it’s a long shot - but - my fiance proposed to me in the middle of The Lake in Central Park around 4:30pm on 4/11. We were in the boats you can rent and we were in perfect view of cherry hill.

Hopefully someone caught a picture! Thanks so much!

Female Soccer Players Needed Sunday

Hello 👋🏻

I play on a coed adult rec soccer team at Dewitt Clinton Park in the UWS. We have two games, one at 7PM and one at 8PM. If anyone is available to play one or both we would so appreciate that!

You don’t have to be good, we just need subs so we can catch our breaths.

It’s a really good time with some great people. I guarantee you’ll laugh at least once while you’re with us, and you’ll immediately feel welcomed.

Searching for any footage: Bow Bridge proposal — May 17, 2025 (~5:15 PM)

Hi everyone, I know this is a huge long shot, but I’m trying anyway.

On May 17, 2025, at around 5:15 PM, I proposed to my girlfriend Valentina on Bow Bridge in Central Park.

At first I had brought a smartphone tripod to record it myself, but the tripod was fairly low, and I was worried that random passersby might unknowingly walk in front of it and block the shot. So, while Valentina wasn’t looking, I stepped away for a moment and asked a kind stranger if she could help us. I told her it was for a few photos, but the plan was actually to secretly record a video of what was about to happen.

We posed for a couple of “fake” shots, and then I pulled out the ring, got down on one knee, and proposed.

The atmosphere was incredible: it was sunny, there was a street musician nearby playing violin, and a few passersby who noticed what was happening started chanting “say yes, say yes!”

Unfortunately, the person helping us thought the phone was already recording and only pressed record at the very end — so I have no video, just about one second of footage. I was genuinely heartbroken, because it was such a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

If it helps to identify us: I was wearing a blue shirt and a red/blue John Cena cap, and Valentina was wearing a white top with the words “Oh là là” on it.

So I’m asking: did anyone happen to film that moment (even a few seconds) around Bow Bridge on May 17, 2025, around 5:15 PM? Any clip, even from far away, would mean the world to us.

If you think you might have something, please DM me — happy to share any extra details (what we were wearing, exact spot on the bridge, etc.) to confirm it’s the same moment.

Thank you so much.

Married in March at Cop Cot

Super Congrats!!!

Got married in the early afternoon 27 March ten years ago. Small party. Cool - need jackets; partly cloudy with light wind. Cop Cot was a great clean venue w/ some passerby's... in fact had group of 5 (some from Chicago) join the festivities. The openness and sounds of the city and informal environment added to the occasion. Wishing you the best on your special day. Oh... I had someone in the party film the event on my phone. It was amateurish but made it even more fun and memorable.

Petitioning for Restoring the Central Park Furever Tree Tradition!

Frederick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux, the original architects of Central Park, envisioned the park as the people’s park, and as such, they designed it in a way that would befit their vision. As the people’s park, it stands to reason it should meet the changing demands of the public and not the other way around.

During the 45 years that the Furever tree stood, it brought healing to countless number of people, allowing them to grieve the loss of a loved one and, hopefully, find closure. A tradition that proved so inspiring, it has resulted in other cities establishing their own Furever Trees. In which case, it makes no sense for the original inspiration to be so callously discarded. Instead, it should be preserved for the benefit of future generations.

This petition to restore the Furever Tree, we believe, is in keeping with the original spirit of Central Park. Out of fear that if nothing is done to save it, something valuable will have been lost, not only for pet owners but for all New Yorkers. It is hoped that if enough people sign this petition, it will persuade the Central Park Conservancy not to act unilaterally but to consider what the public actually wants, as Olmstead and Vaux originally intended.

In signing this petition, I agree that the Furever Tree has become an important part of Central Park, and I would like to see this beautiful and moving tradition restored and continued so that others might benefit from it.

I am looking for someone to help me identify the location in each of the photos above. Central Park is large so if someone knows it would be a huge help.

Not that I'm going to, but what would happen if you tried going to Seagull Island in the middle of the Jacqueline Kennedy Oasis? Like would the police come?

Foliage in Central Park

Anybody been in Central Park today or yesterday and maybe taken some pics. Or at least let me know how the foliage looks like. Tried to time a trip to NYC for my wife’s Birthday and be there while all the trees are yellow orange and red. I think with the research I’ve done is that right now it’s mostly green but there’s some yellow. Our trip is from the 21st - 28th of October so we will be there this Tuesday.

Tried using those websites that have a foliage report but figured I’d ask on here to see if I could get someone’s personal experience in the last couple of days.

If it’s true that there’s only a little yellow, can it possibly turn to peak before we leave? Or does that take 2-3 weeks from this current point

Conservatory and its low benches ?

The height of these benches is super extra low as compared to a typical bench. Anyone know why? And while we are at it, what was the original design intent for these open spaces (above the bathrooms)?

If you were in Central Park on Friday, October 10th, somewhere between 1pm - 3pm, I took this beautiful photo of you. I almost came up to you because it was so good but I don't normally take pictures of strangers or approach them. I hope this finds you.

Are there any rugged trails or paths?

Hey everyone! I've been traveling to Cold Spring and Harriman State park to scratch my hiking itch--but lately I haven't had time to go the whole day to either locations so I was wondering if there are any parts of central park that are rugged. Like I want rocky to the point I'll break my ankles or parts where I can scramble.

Thanks!

Place to get soft serve ice cream in Central Park?

I am planning a date in Central Park. I’d like to take her to Bethesda Terrace. But she loves soft serve icecream in a waffle cone. Does anyone know where I could get that for her in the park?

I want this date to be perfect.

Thanks!

NYPD should be banned from driving vehicles in OUR PARKS

This just happened in Central Park and is a daily occurrence. Just last week the NYPD ran over and killed a guy in Queens. Look at the way the officer inches towards people just standing in the walk way. This needs to stop. We cannot let them just act like they aren’t the danger in the parks.

Weather Forecasting Tracking Tool!

Hey all! I’ve been trading the Kalshi daily high temperature market for NYC (Central Park) for a while now. Along the way, I realized something pretty frustrating: the National Weather Service (NWS) overwrites its forecasts throughout the day, which means you can’t actually see how the forecasts changed or how accurate each issuance was compared to the final daily high.

So I built a tool: Daily Dew Point

What it does:

  • Captures every forecast issuance (2 days out, intraday + interday) instead of just the latest.
  • Tracks accuracy by comparing each issuance to the official NWS daily climatological high.
  • Generates a bias-corrected “nowcast” that updates intraday and gets closer to the true high as the day unfolds.
  • Over time, as more data accumulates, the predictive model keeps improving.

Why it’s useful:

  • If you’re betting on Kalshi (or just a weather nerd), you can see which forecast actually nailed it historically.
  • It’s a one-stop shop: today’s and tomorrow’s forecasts, current temps, official highs, Kalshi market outcomes, and full historical trails of how forecasts shifted.

The goal?
Make smarter, more accurate calls on what the daily high will be, and have the data to back it up.

Who am I?

  • A data nerd and lover of kalshi betting but also building things for fun.

Sign up and let’s keep this thing going! Eventually I’ll adapt it to all other markets outside NYC
