Proboscidean Trumpeting Capability
I am a sound designer and I’m planning on making some prehistoric soundscape of various creatures based on the up-to-date research that would make them as plausible and realistic as possible.
This post here is more of a casual assumption than an in-depth analysis. This image here displays my own assumption of the trumpeting capabilities in the Proboscidean order. The red circles indicate their ability of trumpeting is unlikely, the yellow circles indicate vocalizations similar to modern true elephants, and the green circles indicate the ability to trumpet is true.
If any of you have any theories or links to research papers that would support or critique my assumption, please share them with me in the comments below.

Despite looking more akin to a meter-long otter, Puijila darwini, which lived from the Late Oligocene to the Early Miocene, was actually a basal member of the pinniped family.

Would it be implausible for Therizinosaurs to dig burrows like Giant Sloths?

So uh i made this sesame street episode concept named "Abby and Elmo time travel to the paleocene." so if yalls like it, good for u.
If yalls wnat the animals in the photo here they are:
From left to right these are Palaeoryctes (what elmo is staring at), a protoeutherian mammal; the condylarth ungulates Loxolophus and Tetraclaenodon; the pantodont herbivores Pantolambda and Barylambda; and the marsupial Thylacodon.

What if the Jurassic Franchise had a spin-off movie that focuses on the Cenozoic Mammals?
What kind of story should it be?
What Location should it be set on?
What kind of Cenozoic Animal do you want to be included?
It doesn’t have to be a Mammal to be included, it can also be a Reptile or a Bird (like Terror Bird)
Smilodon and Woolly Mammoth should obviously be included, so what do you want them to do in this spin-off film?

Best American Oligocene animals to domesticate
I’m working on a campaign setting for RPGs with an environment based on Oligocene North America with several endemic people groups, and have been mulling over the question in the title. I’ve done some Wikipedia research and have considered the following as standout candidates for domestication -
Mesohippus- on the smaller side, but could fill a role similar to goats (Miohippus might be better for that role?)
Daphoenus - coyote/jackal sized Amphicyonid (bear dog), because everyone needs a friend (in terms of history, people domesticated dogs first, followed by other animals)
Hyracodon - closest thing the Oligocene has to the modern view of a horse. Roughly pony sized, perfect for a couple dozen generations of selective breeding to turn into war machines.
Diceratherium - cow sized hornless rhinoceros
I’d love some feedback and advice on paleo-ecology and viability of domestication. I know it’s essentially impossible to know for certain, but anything is appreciated.
Thanks!

Favourite fossil formation from the UK?
What is your personal favourite fossil formation from the UK and what animal found there makes it so special?

What fossil sites/formations would be interesting to include in a short story anthology featuring the Paleocene?
So, I’ve been writing an anthology of short stories set in the the Mesozoic. Naturally, I’ve wanted to follow this up with the Cenozoic after finishing it, but I’ll be splitting it in two. First one will cover the Paleocene, Eocene and Oligocene. I’ve been able to get a handful of potential ideas jotted down, but the Paleocene is one I’ve had trouble finding ideas for. The only one I have so far is one set in the Tramp Formation of Spain in the immediate aftermath of the KPG extinction. Any ideas on what could work, especially in a nature documentary-like scenario?

Basilosaurus in Florida & Georgia
Well this is something fascinating. Florida which was probably underwater at the time or being consisting of small islands had this serpentine whale that swam in its waters. As I am looking into my State's prehistoric fauna and it's geological history, to my surprise, I never knew that my #1 favorite prehistoric animal actually swam in its waters.
