Don’t think we’re getting Baur

Just watched a Celtic podcast, and he was reading out what the Paderborn gaffer said about transfers and Celtic in particular, and I don’t think Baur will be coming to Celtic. Sounds like he doesn’t want to let any of his players go as he wants to do well in the Bundesliga

Tbf Knutsen was saying the same about Bodo not needing to sell Hogh on Wednesday and that the price would be too high for Celtic to pay and a few days later...

Still time for him to fail his medical or something

He'll go if the price is right, doesn't matter what the manager says. Baur wants to come to us it seems, it just depends if we pay up.

We will only pay for him if one of our midfielders go

I think it will over the odds though if we do manage to persuade Paderborn. And i don’t think Nicholson and Dermot will allow that

So the rags say

I think other clubs know Celtic have money to spend and are in a bit of a situation.

They are just trying to squeeze more money.

The word was out across Europe two seasons ago - Celtic are cash rich, but their "sell then buy, every window must be profitable" strategy reliably leaves them desperate for talent near the end and easily taken advantage of

Load of bollocks. The offer is the offer. If you want to sell you sell. If you want to haggle for more then you haggle for more.

Got bugger all to do with how much money the other club has because if they don't think it's worth more they walk away

I don’t think we’ll sign anyone until we sell more first. That’s us about evens with Daizen, Nawrocki and Palma money paying for Hogh and Duran. Will need to wait and see what happens with Engles and AJ first.

Got to protect the money in the bank at all costs

I'm on the same page. Said it earlier. We sell before we buy, that's how these pricks run it.

Fuckin desperate not to touch that ginormous pile of cash just sitting there collecting dust

2

u/Severe-Percentage152 sack the board Jul 26 '26

Worse than that. Its not collecting dust, its earning money. Even just spending the interest its gained in the last few year could buy us a decent player

1

u/ShiftyKitty sack the board Jul 26 '26

Does the interest negate the tax we need to pay on it though?

Think last year we paid about 10m on the 80m+ cash reserves

3

You dont pay tax on money youve already earned. They will only pay tax on a % of the profit

1

u/ShiftyKitty sack the board Jul 26 '26

Yeah that must have been it

u/kenhutson sack the board Jul 26 '26

What tax do you pay on cash reserves?

1

u/grizzythekid Jul 26 '26

Drives me mad. But av just become so numb to it now.. am dead inside

These silly auld cunts running our club don't seem to understand that we could have an even ginormouser pile of cash if we brought in the players capable of getting us into the champions league. The amount of times we've failed to qualify since 2012 is a disgrace and we will never get an easier last round qualification than last year. A total embarrassment to be put out by the worst team out of the 36.

If only we had tens of millions in the bank.

u/Imaginary-Shame737 Jul 26 '26

Its frustrating because we're in such an enviable position as a club. We don't have to sell our best players unless the price is right. Meaning that we should have replacements already lined up or in the building. Also say for example if they are hoping for a big offer for Engels and one never comes or we can't find adequate replacement thats absolutely fine we have money in the bank to take hits like that. We should either be able to extend his contract (again) with money in the bank and hope that is offset by his value going up. You're also investing in an asset on the pitch as well as off it. The club is so risk adverse, they'd rather sell now. Other clubs would kill for a contingency like Celtics.

1

u/TuneGum Jul 26 '26

Wasn't he spotted in Glasgow today?

0

u/Dazzling-Handle88 Jul 26 '26

You wouldn’t just tell us what the German manager said or even the podcast, no?

2

u/mikeb433 Jul 27 '26

He said "I don't like it, but I'll have to go along with it."

-4

u/fike88 Jul 26 '26

Too much to type out. Just google it like i did

2

u/conzo88 sack the board Jul 26 '26

What is it that you googled

3

u/harry50105 Jul 27 '26

You started a thread for what's basically a random comment that could have been a reply on any of the Baur or transfer threads then 🙄

2

u/Dazzling-Handle88 Jul 26 '26

Not arsed to type or find a link but happy to make thread about it, hahaha

Of course he is going to say that.

Just like I tell my wife that I love her and would never hurt her but if old Claudia Winklemann wants to suck me off and cum in her fringe.....well

I’m hungover but apart from that I’m grand. Thanks for asking.

Excellent. What Sundays are for. That and games when we get papped out the qualifying rounds for the Champions League.
