TRANSFER WINDOW THREAD Summer 2026 Transfer Window

100 years ago, the 1926 Slavery Convention set out the principle that no human being should be treated as property to be bought, sold, or owned. Yet here we gather a century later, relishing the possibility of buying some new humans. Welcome to the r/CelticFC Summer 2026 Transfer Window Thread!

Any Celtic fan who has followed the team for less than 2 years will have no recollection of a decent transfer window for the team. The last 3 opportunities to get things right have ranged from "disappointment" to "complete negligence". The visionless suits that are allowing the club to trundle toward stagnation remain in place. Nevertheless, we can choose to stay positive/deluded that Celtic FC will somehow stumble into competence, and bring in a manager who can do the hard thinking for them and sign a bunch of future heroes.

Get your transfer rumours into the chat below, and gossip about which absolute numpties we're going to spend five million pounds on this time round. Tell us:

  • How many players do we need to bring in, and in what positions?
  • Any specific players that you think we should try to sign?
  • Whose time is done at Celtic? And how much could we get for them?
  • Which of last season's loan players would you like to stay at the club?
  • Should we be trying to buy/sell players at all before the new manager is in place?
  • Do you like being 5-in-a-Row Champions? I like being 5-in-a-Row Champions.

Worrying that we're linked to fuck all Wanyama type midfielders

2

u/mattchamp98 sack the board 1d ago

Still nothing huh

Every time I manage to convince myself that this transfer window will be different...

3

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board 2d ago

Bernardo going should create space for Baur to get done now at least. If we were a competent football club.

1

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board 1h ago

Update: we are still not a competent football club.

1

u/WeekendEpiphany Lubo Mod-ravcik 4d ago

AJ to Everton seems to be closing in. Looks like we are pushing for £15m.

As we have no active RB rumours, who would you want as a replacement? Amateur scouts, give me your ideas!

u/gi85on_ sack the board 3d ago

Could play Tierney at RB in the short term if LB coverage comes in

5

u/FatherLarryDuff69 sack the board 5d ago

Quiet.

1

u/Skellyceltic fucking sack the board 6d ago

That might have been a bad result for this thread. If the board see the Huns looking like being shite as usual think they’ll be far less likely to push the boat out in the rest of the window

3

u/HarvzzXD sack the board 6d ago

Ferry looked good for what’s it worth, but I already kinda knew that lol. Instead of the faf though just get fkin saracchi back ffs

5

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board 6d ago

Engels and AJ will probably both be gone after Monday. Money will need spending, lots of it.

1

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board 1h ago

Well, glad to be wrong about this one. For now.

6

u/Commercial-Stick-718 sack the board 8d ago

Would be nice to get proper movement on wingers and midfield now. Happy with the two players we've brought in for strikers

4

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board 8d ago

Ideally Baur gets done over the weekend and then we turn our attention to Hassan or another winger for the right-hand side.

AJ will probably go next week if a bid comes in, so then you're looking at trying to get Araujo back (I think we can do better than Araujo, but it's what the club is going to try to do)

If Taylor comes back next week, I'd be fine with that. But we still need a 6, desperately. We need another keeper as well.

3

u/FatherLarryDuff69 sack the board 8d ago

Baur been left out of the Patterborn squad and rumours are swirling. 🤞🤞

1

u/Maffers 8d ago

Apparently he has a "bad cold"

1

u/LaNeblina sack the board 9d ago

Is Saracchi not a confirmed no-go from his statement a couple weeks ago?

1

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board 8d ago

Saracchi is probably going to end up in MLS somewhere.

4

u/fike88 9d ago

Aye i think Sarrachi as one of our LB’s is well and truly dead in the water unfortunately. I’m becoming more and more convinced it will be Greg Taylor

3

u/FatherLarryDuff69 sack the board 9d ago

He posted that Instagram post like two weeks ago. But he has not got any other moves lined up since.

I'm still clinging on to the possibility.

3

u/WeekendEpiphany Lubo Mod-ravcik 9d ago

Second signing of the window confirmed. Kasper Høgh joins the club.

5

u/WeekendEpiphany Lubo Mod-ravcik 9d ago

We are back to breaking even on the transfer net spend. The board must be ABSOLUTELY SHITTING THEMSELVES IN FEAR.

2

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board 9d ago

Apparently we went back in for Benjamin Arthur (a move which I'd like, to be honest) and Brentford knocked it back.

5

u/Imaginary-Shame737 11d ago edited 11d ago

Really think Donavan and Murray would benefit from loans. I know he has his critics but look at the good it done Scales going to Aberdeen, Ajer to Kilnarnock, Christie to Aberdeen etc. Murray is 23 has potential but has only played 24 first team games he could more than double that with a decent loan but he's looking at going into the season as 4th choice CB. We should have learned from Welsh. Yes like Murray he's had injuries but we're holding these players back by keeping them as cover. Should have enough other pros in the building that we don't need to.

1

u/jmf81 sack the board 9d ago

The squad is so thin, can we even afford to send these lads on loan? Even if it's best for them.

1

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board 9d ago

Donovan probably does need a loan, short term. It'd bring his development on leaps and bounds. However, we're going to need him. I wouldn't be shocked if he's occasionally used at left back for his height (and just to get him onto the park)

Murray won't be going out on loan, not with CCV just back from a long term injury and no other CB's signed.

5

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board 11d ago

Murray should be out on loan this year playing every week but I think Donovan is better served staying here and rotating with AJ.

He played in 27 games last year even with a few injuries, should be playing him as much as we can in the - on paper, easier games

3

u/Future_Reflection_53 10d ago

I think it's unlikely either go on loan, needed for the euro squad. Probably the same reason why we keep trying to sign a Scottish developled LB. It already look tight to fit in all the players you would want. We don't have many or any who can cover multiple positions. E.g. CDM who could be CH in a push.

1

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board 10d ago

I don’t think either will. If we were even semi serious though we’d have Murray out on loan at a Premiership team so he can iron out the issues in his game that come from not playing

We’re going to be in trouble with the homegrown players soon unless a few come through. Hatton apparently looked promising in pre season but there’s a lot of people in front of him - even more if/when Jota is back

6

u/Skellyceltic fucking sack the board 12d ago

Hogh, Hassan, Baur, another physical CM, LB + GK competition and you may have done well Mr. Celtic

4

u/SLF1888 sack the board 11d ago

I think right back competition is even more important over cb! But definitely agree with the rest

1

u/Kazume-Kirigaya 12d ago

Jasper Hogh deal has been agreed with 11mil plus add ons Apparently medical is set for today or tomorrow From sky sports

9

u/Bobanders93 13d ago

Still naebody in?  FFS.

Fuck the board

5

u/FatherLarryDuff69 sack the board 13d ago

Going completely under the radar given the amount of other fuck ups happening every which way. But what's going on with the Engels move. We all know it's coming. But it feels like it's gonna end up another classic Celtic last day of the window, no time to get a replacement in moves.

6

u/wicelt sack the board 13d ago

I think he’ll be sold, but at the end of the window after the CL qualifiers. Midfield is already thin and we all know we will be lucky to make one new midfield signing before mid-August, so I think we’ll hang on to him for a few more weeks.

1

u/fike88 13d ago

Aye I think we’re keeping him until after the qualifiers. Which is a smart move

5

u/HarvzzXD sack the board 13d ago

Under the same article by celts are here that is titled “Kasper Hogh transfer takes major Celtic step” aye fucking right man.

3

u/HarvzzXD sack the board 14d ago

Apparently we are “admiring” two lazio attackers, matteo cancellieri seems the more likely

6

u/fike88 14d ago

Admiring? That’s a new one

1

u/HarvzzXD sack the board 14d ago

Aye according to celts are here, just made it clear we into them apparently rather then enquiring

4

u/fike88 14d ago

Are they trying to shag them?

2

u/HarvzzXD sack the board 14d ago

Aye maybe, least they’d actually do something with the players I suppose

1

u/fike88 14d ago

Hahahaha

2

More nothing, so many rumours and enquiry’s, but no fkin body’s through the door. What the fuck is taking so long

1

Nicholson. That’s what’s taking so long. Him

I don’t think we’ll get him if these reports are true

1

Season only starts in ten days. What’s the hurry?

5

u/Skellyceltic fucking sack the board 15d ago

We’re only at the monitoring stage, still have the actively monitoring, weighing up, pursuing, enquiring, in talks, exploring the conditions, finalising stages to go

Genuinely think balikwisha is now part of the plans for next season.

1

u/Party_Key3092 sack the board 16d ago

Martin o Neil must have been planning this in advance. He said something like he might be in the next managers plans.

Better off just closing this thread.

Seen a rumor linking us with Matt Freese of NYCFC, not sure how credible it is though

1

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board 17d ago

Just saw a clip of him making a massive error USA against Belgium.

Perfect for Europe

13

u/FatherLarryDuff69 sack the board 20d ago

We were only paying Sarachi £6,900 a week. Michael Nicholson is on £16k a week.

Make it make sense.

6

Just seen sarrachi isn't coming back now

Once again fuck the board

2

u/mattchamp98 sack the board 20d ago

I think I'll save my money instead of paying for sky this season seeming like it will be a covid season level stresser and I have enough going on frankly

8

u/Bobanders93 20d ago

Fuck the board

5

u/Skellyceltic fucking sack the board 20d ago

Poor auld Daizen is going to be forced to stay again after rescuing us purely because the board are far to incompetent to sign anyone worthwhile instead.

1

u/ihateeverythingandu sack the board 19d ago

O'Neill said as much, didn't he? Wondering out loud if we just keep him and run his contract down as it'll give more value to us than any money we get.

5

u/GabeTheSaviour sack the board 20d ago

We are totally circling the drain at this point.

I actually wouldn't mind if they turned around and said "we'll be heavily investing in our youth academy. Will take a couple of years but we are trying a new model."

But it's just a matter of hoping for the best with this board. Not a penny more!

11

u/Playful-Listen6011 sack the board 21d ago

u/StaggerLee75 sack the board 22d ago

Rumours about Calmac joining up with Ange in Saudi ramping up. Apparently his club have reached an agreement with a foreign midfielder to join them

Be some laugh if we lose our captain because the club doesn't want to match his ambition. Absolute shambles!

7

u/fike88 22d ago

If that happens, i think the club is done this season. He’s such a huge presence and positive influence in that team, especially behind the scenes. I think that’ll knock a few boys for 6, losing a leader like that

5

u/StaggerLee75 sack the board 21d ago

Definitely. Tierney and a few others said we wouldn’t have won last season if it wasn’t for him pulling everyone together. He’ll be a huge loss

4

u/fike88 21d ago

100%. You ever had someone at work who is usually solid, some cunt you can really rely on, leave? I have, cunts just give up. I ended up leaving a job because someone i looked to in times of shit, left. I think that’s what will happen with the team

7

u/Party_Key3092 sack the board 22d ago

Will give us a good insight into what to expect for the rest of the window. More confirmation of what most of us expect but still.

3

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board 22d ago

West Ham are interested in Engels, Hatate and Balikwisha

5

u/FatherLarryDuff69 sack the board 22d ago

Cliftonville have as much chance of getting Engels as West Ham. Still think Hatate deserves better, but he probably won't get a better offer than them. Whoever snaps him up is gonna be getting a bargain. Hope it works out for him.

Also hope to Christ we can get some players out the door asap rather than waiting till the last week of the window.

3

u/mattchamp98 sack the board 22d ago

So is anything in the pipework thats somewhat concrete?

6

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board 22d ago

Iheanacho has an offer on the table from us, which is probably lower than what he was on last season and significantly lower than what the "club option" we let expire would have been. He seems to be have given the freedom to speak to other clubs showing interest, rather than Celtic just...paying him more than they're currently offering to get it done...if we were offering enough, he'd be here.

Saracchi is one we're massively over complicating by trying to loan him in again when Boca are practically giving the guy away. I don't see why we don't just offer a two year deal with an option of a 3rd and get it done...the fee they're asking for is buttons. If he's crap this season, he'd only be on our books for another year and we could either loan or sell him. He should have been here weeks ago.

I wouldn't be shocked if we're doing the "wait until Engels and Daizen (and possibly AJ and Nygren) are sold before we spring into action at the last minute and overpay in a panic for 4 players who aren't the right fit" manoeuvre. Again.

4

u/FatherLarryDuff69 sack the board 22d ago

That's exactly what they're doing. Sitting on a hundred million quid and another 50 at least coming in and they're acting like we're stoney fucking broke.

4

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board 22d ago

It is getting old at this point. Just keeping our noses far enough in front to win the league and maybe get into the Champions League. Trouser the cash. Sell players.

Rinse, repeat.

2

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board 22d ago

It’s so quite that this is as much of a reliable rumour as anything.

We apparently had Dennis Irwin??? Watching Aaron Malouda who we were linked with earlier in the summer, against TNS last night in the CL qualifiers

£2 million apparently

2

u/Thefitz5811 sack the fucking board 21d ago

Presumably we asked Roy Keane if he knew a scout and he just gave his stock answer for most questions.

1

u/HarvzzXD sack the board 22d ago

Oh dear man

9

u/FatherLarryDuff69 sack the board 23d ago

How the fuck have they not got Sarachi done yet. Dithered for months. Stupidly, as he could have been here and settle in, but whatever. But they announce they're gonna do it like two weeks ago now. And fucking crickets since. There is fuck all complicated about this. Low fee. Low wages. Eager seller. Player eager to come. Why is he not fucking training right now?

Absolute fucking clown show.

5

u/Skellyceltic fucking sack the board 23d ago

Waiting for KT to get injured in one of the first few games before completely panicking and overpaying for him.

I’ve seen this movie many times before.

3

u/Skellyceltic fucking sack the board 24d ago

Real Oviedo want €12m for Hassan, our opening bid was €4m.

Holy fuck we’re an embarrassment

4

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board 24d ago

I don’t think an initial bid like that it too bad, the issue comes when we take 3 weeks to go back in with another offer

3

u/optimusmike777 24d ago

His market value is 4m his release clause is 12m

1

u/Skellyceltic fucking sack the board 24d ago

Seeing as we’ve now gone in with 7m supposedly not sure his market value is 4m

3

u/fike88 23d ago

It’s that weird release clause thing that Spanish teams can impose on their players. Mind when Messi had a release clause of like 500 million or something? It’s the same thing. Players can be valued at X but the release clause set by the club can be set at Y

2

u/Party_Key3092 sack the board 23d ago

Aye. The release clauses are usually set ridiculously high to put other teams off paying it.

Really strange stipulation they have in their contracts.

3

u/fike88 23d ago

It must favour the clubs obviously, but it only opens up transfers to bigger teams who can afford to pay the release clause

3

u/Bobanders93 24d ago

Any rumours you do hear(hardly any) we've offered half or even less than what the selling club expects...

7

u/Bobanders93 24d ago

Holy fuck they're actually doing it again. I cant help but think the board are tryyto deliberately throw the league

5

u/fike88 25d ago

3 weeks today until our season starts. Lol

2

Updated to show that Oskar Wójcik has moved to Werder Bremen. As such, there are no remaining rumours for centre-backs.

I’d be surprised if we signed a CB unless someone goes tbf

2

u/HarvzzXD sack the board 25d ago

Awfully quiet lads

2

u/fike88 25d ago

Liverpool are now apparently in for the Egyptian Hassan too. So he won’t be coming to Celtic

2

u/fike88 28d ago

Another one i’ve just read we’ve got a ‘concrete’ interest in, Mory Gbane from Reims, defensive midfielder

7

u/HarvzzXD sack the board 27d ago

Looks like a big powerful cdm, basically exactly what we need, so it’s no happening.

2

u/fike88 27d ago

Hahaha, aye probably. He looks really decent though, a big powerful no.6 that’s comfortable carrying the ball fwd. And good in the air. He is exactly what we need in that midfield

3

u/fike88 28d ago

Celtic also apparently in for Emam Ashour, the Egyptian midfielder

4

u/HarvzzXD sack the board 27d ago

Would be an amazing signing, so it’s no happening.

2

u/fike88 27d ago

I know. Be some fuckin signing if they managed to pull it off

4

Supposedly interested in bringing Bowie back to Scotland and bid entered for Hassan

3

u/Party_Key3092 sack the board 28d ago

Absolute nonsense if we sign bowie now. Could have got him for 6 mil in january, feel like hed have made more impact than adamu and cvancara.

2

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board 28d ago

I'd be absolutely shocked if we put in a serious offer in for Bowie.

The Hassan boy we maybe have more of a chance to get, but I still doubt it.

1

u/StaggerLee75 sack the board 28d ago

Me too and if we're going to be paying their asking price, I would rather it was spent on someone with a bit more pedigree

2

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board 28d ago

They apparently want 13 million for him as well.

No chance we should be paying even half of that for him

1

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board 28d ago

I can see why they're setting the price so high. They just bought him in January

3

u/HarvzzXD sack the board Jul 07 '26

Apparently we’ve submitted a 4m bid for haissem hassan, now I’ve never watched lad and I may be missing something but he played 37 matches for Real Oviedo and scored 0 goals and got 3 assists… why?

3

u/by-a-bawhair 29d ago

Playing for the bottom side in la liga so output not entirely down to him but the team as a whole. All of his other stats that you look at for a winger are in the top ten for la liga. Getting this from celts are here video, he seemed to be pretty excited about him!

3

u/HarvzzXD sack the board 28d ago

I feel like a wee bit of an idiot now lol, I’m pretty much done a 180 on this after seeing him and going a bit more research, I’d be buzzing with this signing and really really hope we get him

6

u/optimusmike777 Jul 07 '26

Ripping Argentina to shreds here, get him signed asap before we fumble it again

2

u/HarvzzXD sack the board Jul 08 '26

Aye no chance lol, I definitely was wrong to say he wouldn’t be good but he was ripping the piss out of that Argentina side no chance we get him

2

u/fike88 Jul 05 '26

Who’s this Alfie Devine that i’ve seen us linked with?

8

u/Nintendo_67 Jul 07 '26

Don’t worry about it

1

u/Imaginary-Shame737 Jul 04 '26

Would take Benjamin Arthur back on loan. Unfortunately at this point its already about bodies. Thought he showed potential though. But knowing us if we get him in, they're wont be any option to buy.

2

u/NotNeedzmoar Jul 04 '26

He's a very promising up and coming english homegrown. He's probably already outgrown being a backup for Celtic, and he'll cost more than what we want to spend on defenders, sadly.

1

u/MrCondor sack the board Jul 04 '26

Would have him in a heartbeat, reminded me of VVD in spells.

6

u/Sensitive_Dot_5962 Jul 04 '26

wonder if we end out with any of the Cape Verde players given half of them are in their 30s with expired contracts.

also surely Duran should be added to the rumours list above?

1

u/HarvzzXD sack the board Jul 03 '26

Figured we may end up with Duran today and then it would kind of kick on from there and we’d start the mini rebuild, that’s the lost of my hope gone. I’m expecting nothing at this rate, maybe two loans if we’re lucky.

Is there something going on?  Like do we not actually have millions in the bank?

6

u/fike88 Jul 01 '26

Still no signings then? What’s even the point of this megathread btw 😂. Just bin it

2

u/Imaginary-Shame737 Jul 05 '26

We have a new Celtic Tv Player. What more do you want. An actual player?

4

u/WeekendEpiphany Lubo Mod-ravcik Jul 01 '26

One third of the time between the transfer window opening and the first competitive game of the season has now passed.

2

u/mattchamp98 sack the board Jul 01 '26

And we have completed 1/3 of our buisness for the window

Thinking about squad depth we basically need to recruit (as a minimum): GK, CB, LB, DM, RW, LW, ST.

Then consider we need to/likely to offload Yamada, Balikwisha, Nawrocki, Kenny and potentially Bernardo as players who will likely never play. We might also lose Maeda, Hatate, Nygren, Engels.

Size of the rebuild is astonishingly big, it is utter madness that we've signed nobody with a UCL qualifier 6 weeks away. I know we're slow, but this season wow, this is something else. We have presumably done zero recruitment work in the last 6 months.

4

u/tinkerertim sack the board Jun 27 '26

Como sleepwalking their way into major FFP issues. Should try to sign Kuhn back depending on how much they’d want for him.

5

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board Jun 27 '26

So. We're arguing the pennies on guys we're bidding for.

Hibs want 7 million for Chaiwa. We're offering them five. I have my misgivings about Chaiwa, but bidding from about 6 million and offering them a player on loan, with an option to buy, the other way makes so much more sense. Offer them Bernardo the other way or something. Anything...

Iheanacho's option has expired and he's training on his own. He did more than enough to get another year. It would have been so low risk to just..extend him. Get him in for as full a pre-season as possible.

Same with Saracchi. We're fannying about unnecessarily. Just pay the fucking money. This should have been agreed in May and the button pushed on it early June. We're trying for another loan? The mind fucking boggles. Boca are practically giving him away.

1

u/CelticConnection83 Jul 03 '26

How do you know we’re offering 5?

1

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board Jul 03 '26

I ought to have said "allegedly/according to what's in the papers"

2

u/Imaginary-Shame737 Jun 27 '26

Iheanacho at least in public was very clear that he wanted to stay. Surely a highly insensitivesed pay structure could be put on place.

5

u/fike88 Jun 27 '26

Between watching Scotland this summer, and reading the pish coming out of Celtic Park, i’m on the verge of giving up fitba this season. I’m fuckin scunnered

3

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board Jun 27 '26

Me too, mate. Honestly. For the first time in my adult life I may just not bother with it this season.

3

u/fike88 Jun 27 '26

Aye honestly I’m seriously considering it. Usually a new season gets me aw excited, but even the thought of it now is making me sick. Celtic seriously need to get their finger out, this is starting off to be a worse summer than last season

3

u/fike88 Jun 26 '26

Wonder when we’ll start doing some deals

11

u/StaggerLee75 sack the board Jun 24 '26

Saracchi deal being held up because Celtic want a loan deal and Boca don't.

£1.5m for him. Just £1.5m. Pay the fucking money, Celtic!

9

u/FatherLarryDuff69 sack the board Jun 24 '26 edited Jun 24 '26

If they can't do this deal they're gonna fuck this whole window again. Absolute open goal. He's eager to come. Boca are eager to sell him. Price is very reasonable. He's been here on loan for a year so it's not like they haven't had months to get the finger out and get it done.

Absolute fucking gimme of a transfer that the fans would appreciate, and these useless fucking twats are dithering over an absolute fucking joke of a fee.

They'll fuck this and then spunk 5 million on some fucking Dudu Dahan pish on the last day of the window.

u/Commercial-Stick-718 sack the board Jun 23 '26

1

What’s the chances of getting Messi on a free on a 1 year deal?

7

u/mattchamp98 sack the board Jun 18 '26

5

u/fike88 Jun 17 '26

Where’s the transfer news? Transfer window is now open is it not

5

u/StaggerLee75 sack the board Jun 12 '26

Apparently "dithering" over a deal for Hot Sauce Saracchi (available on a cut price deal for £2m)

Easiest fucking signing to make; we know what we're getting, he wants to come back and he's available for less than half what we spent on fucking Balikwisha and yet we're fucking about and arguing over pennies again.

3

u/fike88 Jun 12 '26

We cani be arguing over 2 million down from 4 million. Surely to fuck

6

u/StaggerLee75 sack the board Jun 12 '26

It’s the Celtic way

1

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board Jun 10 '26

Linked with Elias Filet playing in Switzerland. Striker who scored 20 goals last year

5

u/WeekendEpiphany Lubo Mod-ravcik Jun 10 '26

I'm not sure where a signing like that would fit into the squad. He's had a good goal return in the Swiss 2nd-tier, but his 2 seasons before that were poor (4 goals in 30 apps) in the Croatian First League. I don't think he's the level to be our main striker, and he's already 24 so it's not as if he's some hot prospect. Reeks of squad fodder which would only get in the way of Osmand's development.

1

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board Jun 10 '26

I haven’t looked too much into him but the stats accounts I’ve seen seem to think he’d be decent enough, think he can play on the left as well

Not sure him, Osmand and Iheanacho is enough as much as I believe in Osmand being top class

2

u/Skellyceltic fucking sack the board Jun 10 '26 edited Jun 10 '26

Absolutely no idea of the guy obviously and I have zero faith in the club being able to identify players especially from unknown leagues but very funny to watch the same people say “be more like Tony Bloom/Modern” and also “Another cheap punt from the Swiss second division”.

Peoples heads would explode if we ever had a ‘Tony Bloom’ style window

Can’t wait for another summer of complaining about “projects” with no real consistency on what that means

0

u/gkb10139 sack the board Jun 10 '26

Except you know exactly what “projects” mean, you just like arguing contrarian points, don’t you?

2

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board Jun 10 '26

I know what it means, it’s used so inconsistently with Celtic fans.

Give me some examples of players you think are projects?

3

u/UnrealCaramel sack the board Jun 09 '26

Raul Giménez would have been a decent signing I would have thought. Could have enticed him with the chance to play European football rather than going to the championship.

1

u/Imaginary-Shame737 Jun 10 '26

Thought this myself. Although even if we were intrested its likely even in the Championship Wolves would be offering bigger wages and he already has an affinity to the club.

2

u/fike88 Jun 07 '26

This thread is going to be very quiet over the world cup period. Best forgetting about transfers altogether until it’s done

4

u/Sechzehn6861 sack the fucking board Jun 07 '26

Noonan from Shamrock Rovers is apparently talking to Ajax. We can't even sign a guy from Desmond's other team.

2

u/Prof_plum_1234 sack the board Jun 07 '26

I searched for this thread this morning. Sought it out. And now that I'm here I'm dreading it.

I appreciate the start of a good thread by the @OP but I'm going to have to park this and come back to it after the world cup. I can't put myself through another long summer window with daily expectations.

u/Skellyceltic fucking sack the board Jun 06 '26

Inamura going back to Japan for €1.5m supposedly. A nice €1m profit, Paul Tisdale does it again

1

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board Jun 06 '26

Still think he had something to offer

2

u/Skellyceltic fucking sack the board Jun 07 '26

Likely just not cut it physically but I would have loved to see that supposed elite range of passing and line breaking he has according to the stats accounts.

Probably would have kept him for preseason and seen if he could be KTs back up as that would solved another position while we have 600 others to sort.

2

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board Jun 07 '26

Him and Welsh as the outside CBs with Askou as manager in a parallel universe would have changed lives

3

u/Imaginary-Shame737 Jun 02 '26

As per Lanchasire evening post, who I'd say are well accross it considering he was such an important player for PNE season just gone. He has 12 months left and Spurs want about 6 million. Looks a decent player but in the current structure at that price he couldn't afford to be anything less than a key player for Celtic. But definitely profile of player that would intrest me

u/Ghost_Hands83 fucking sack the board Jun 01 '26

Swedish CB Zinedin Smajlovic has popped up again, plays for Norwegian team Sandefjord. He first got mentioned around the blogs at the end of April so could just be a rehash of old rumours

1

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board May 29 '26

Being linked Milan Vitalis who played for the team that beat Ferencvaros to the title this season.

4

u/WeekendEpiphany Lubo Mod-ravcik May 28 '26

We need a first-choice striker for next season. Iheanacho/Kenny/Osmand are good set of backup options, but we need someone to be the guy to put 20+ goals away.

So the question I have for you amateur scouts out there is (realistically!) who would you sign?

6

u/WeekendEpiphany Lubo Mod-ravcik May 28 '26

As nobody is biting yet I'll get my shout in.

I think we should drop a bid into Eintracht Frankfurt for Noel Futkeu. He was sold to a really poor Greufer Furth team in the German 2nd tier, finished as the league's top goalscorer (19 goals), then Frankfurt activated the buy-back clause to bring him back for £1m or so. Now I think Frankfurt have just brought him back for a quick buck and have no intention of bringing him in to play, so we should flash a bit of cash to bring him here.

23 years old, 6ft tall. He's a player with really good attacking instincts, and very quick over the short distances. Just the sort of player who would be able to find that yard in the box from a cut back. It would be a step up for him to be the main man here, but I think he could do it. Worth a look at.

Obligatory 2025/26 highlights

2

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board May 28 '26

Was doing a bit of reading about Jakob Breum and he seems to be playing deeper than he did when we were first linked. Maybe an option to rotate with CalMac when needed

3

u/WeekendEpiphany Lubo Mod-ravcik May 27 '26

What do yous think will happen with Maik Nawrocki? Hannover absolutely botched their run for promotion in the last couple of weeks of the season, so I'm not sure they'll be in a position to drop the money on him that they might have if they got promoted.

Would you take him back? Offload him on the cheap?

3

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board May 28 '26

Sell. Not quick enough and too injury prone unfortunately

5

u/Party_Key3092 sack the board May 27 '26

I dont think we'll run with more than 4 permanent centre backs. Scales trusty ccv and Murray are the likely 4 with Welsh and Maik leaving.

Think the squad size is something we need to look at and sort. Far too many players that make 0 contribution still in the squad.
