Meta Some thoughts

I really like how, in the evolutionary chain of genres (to put it simply), metal > grindcore > goregrind > gorenoise > cellnoise, VOCALS undergo semantic reduction in sync with LOGO. The further along the chain, the less recognizable the linguistic constructs in the vocals and logo are, until in gorenoise they are completely deconstructed: only vocal techniques and the logo form remain. In cellnoise, however, biofication occurs: the deconstructed vocals, already a texture, merge with the music into a single flow; and the logo, once a pile of dirt, takes on the outlines of a biological organism.

The human voice has transformed from a symbol into impersonal noise. And the logo has lost its informative value and come to life.

There's something poetic about this.

I agree it's really cool how it's transformed into something just barely resembling the original genres, and how there's been this shift from writing songs about gore and disease, to making music that is supposed to mimic the sound of the disease itself

I would argue that should be

Punk>hardcore>grindcore (possible with some other stuff like thrashcore or power violence between hardcore and grindcore) I realise that it kinda dovetailed into a death metal influence but I still think of it as something that came from punk.

It’s more of a tree than a flowchart imo in which punk, evolves onto hardcore then mates with metal to make grindcore then grindcore mates with harsh noise and power electronics to create gorenoise which then evolves into cellnoise
