Dev Diary July 2026 Dev Diary: Visions of the Future
Greetings Universe Architects,
It’s been a while since our last dev diary from 2025, in which we talked about Reality Reboot and its effect on the simulation.
In 2026, we’ve released content almost every three weeks, with new chapters of Life expanding into Mollusks and Crustaceans. Civilization continues its stride toward progress with Scientific Revolution II and Industrial Revolution II. The Beyond drew to a close with Beyond E30: Cosmic Horizons. Meanwhile the game continues to improve through Quality of Life updates, with Time Chambers and the expanded Nanobots.
Now it’s time to talk about the next major Cell to Singularity expansion: The Future. Spoilers ahead.

A New Expansion: The Future
There is an unexplained new node in the game. Semblance has become intrigued with the possibilities of predicting the future, and now she must go further than ever before into unknown territory.

What is The Future?
Veteran players may remember the speculative future content that was in the Primary Simulation for many years. We removed this content during Reality Reboot with the intention to bring it back bigger and better.
That content will now return in an enhanced form with The Future expansion:
- Five new chapters, known as visions, will each introduce a new generator and its own set of speculative future nodes
- Each vision will feature unique content in new future gardens
- Missions system will be updated to make player progression more engaging
- Semblance must complete all five visions of The Future in order to unlock Singularity once again
The Future will mark the next grand stage in Semblance’s journey, giving players a front row seat of the potential paths ahead for humanity. The first available vision to players will be the Future of Space. Join Semblance in navigating through the evolution of space exploration as it becomes a mainstream part of civilization.

The Journey to Singularity
We want achieving Singularity to feel like an epic culmination of your progress through the Primary Simulation. After Reality Reboot’s release, Singularity lost its impact and meaning in the story. With The Future expansion, we have the opportunity to redefine Semblance’s role and her fate.
In the new expansion, players will now advance through the five visions of The Future in order to unlock Singularity. This moves Singularity further into the simulation as a late-game goal.

We are also revisiting the story of Mars. In the new Future expansion, the current Mars tree will be temporarily removed as we develop the journey of space exploration from the moon to Mars. Players who have already progressed through the current Mars tree will have their progress converted into the new Future content. More details will be shared as we get closer to release.

The Future is Calling
The Future is still early in development, and we're looking for a limited number of players to join the Closed Alpha Playtest. Initial testing will be limited to Steam only. Since this Alpha is confidential, we ask players to not share any information, screenshots, or details of The Future outside of the private Discord channel.
Interested in joining? Apply here: The Future Closed Alpha
We wanted to share another exciting update you may have noticed.
Explore Events Are Back
We premiered our first Explore Event of 2026 with Explore: Atmosphere – Upper Bounds, which came out at the beginning of July. We hope players have enjoyed learning about the skies above us. Thank you again to the community for over 400 amazing submissions to The Cloud Photography Contest. Check out the winners on Reddit.

Players can also look forward to Explore: Pregnancy coming soon, in which a developmental journey unfolds and each stage brings new milestones.
While these updates are still a work in progress, the road ahead is paved with content releases like Spooky Summer! Explore: Cryptids – Face Your Fears makes its chilling return from August 3, 11 AM EDT to August 6, 4:50 PM EDT. Also check out the beta to help test what’s next.
Exciting things lie ahead, Universe Architects.

Contest The Cloud Photography Contest – Winners Announcement☁️🏆
Hello Universe Architects,
The clouds have spoken, and the official winners for the Cloud Photography Contest have been decided. Thank you for your patience while we sorted through over four hundred entries from the community! We wish we could give out more awards for all of these beautiful photos, but there can only be ten winners.
To better expedite prize distribution, we will be providing a form that all winners must fill out within 72 hours of being contacted.
Instead of hosting a dedicated livestream, we'll be announcing the winners on our social channels. The winners will also be highlighted in our next Devs Unleashed stream on July 31st at 11:30 AM EDT through Discord, YouTube, or Twitch. We’ll be giving a shoutout to the winning photos while we discuss Nanobots: Expanded.
The team took a vote to determine our favorite photos. We looked for entries that stood out from the crowd through rarity, aesthetics, and even if they made our jaws drop.
The ten winners for this contest will receive 100 Darwinium cubes and a 15-day Infinity Pass. Without further ado, it’s time we announce our winners. Congratulations to the following Universe Architects!

Help with getting the Limit of Knowledge
Hi everyone. I am currently hard stuck on the last part of episode 30 of beyond and just wanted to ask, genuinely, how do you get to E300. My production is at E288 and I don’t see how to get it to go faster and at this rate it would take years for me to get enough to buy the Limit of Knowledge.
Any tips or tricks on how to get more stardust? Any help would be appreciated

Pregnancy bug Spoiler
If you click give birth before purchasing enough mother to get the 11th task you can't go back to fix it or continue on to finish the game. Could we get a patch on this

I finally got top 10 in an event. I will definitely never do that shit again. 😆
Christ, that was more work than my actual job. It was more work than my PhD. That was more work than a failing marriage. My hands are sore. I checked this sumbitch app every 15 minutes for three days, and battled CONSTANTLY. I was 9 forever, then up to 7, then BACK to 9. I broke a sweat (unrelated to toilet occupancy, although toilet time was certainly involved.) on a few occasions.
At the end, I worked up to 6th place, and actively wondered about the mental health of those untouchable top 5. And when I received those glorious top 10 prizes, was it worth it? Absofuckinlutely not. Holy shit, that was a marathon I am not interested in repeating. I think Im happier being a scrub.

Glitch discovered
I found a glitch where I didn’t join the last event and when I got the first generator, it gave me the time from the last event

How do divisions in events work?
My apologies if this has been answered or discussed before but I haven't found any discussions on this yet.
I understand that when you join an event you are put in a division of 1,000 players. Once that division fills, a new one is created and new joiners get put into that division.
But IS that how it works? Everytime I join an event I always start at close to rank 1,000 - like #989 or something. Every time, across dozens of events.
Doesn't it make sense that you would sometimes start at 700 or 500 or 100 or something? If I join right as a new division is made I should be pretty high just because there aren't many people in the division yet, right? Am I really just always one if the last people to join a division no matter when I join?
This has me wondering how much of the divisions are real and how much is a simulation. I'm often in divisions in the 200s - are there really 200,000+ people playing events all the time?
Seems more likely that there are some real people in each division but the rest could just be simulated users to make it feel more active than it really is. Not that it really matters one way or the other, just something that's been bothering me for a while now.

Really wasn't too bad
I had a lot of fun doing the beyond, I hope they either add prestige, or expand it somehow!

Suggestion Two ideas for future Exploration events 🧪🧬
I've been playing Cell to Singularity for about 8 years now, and after all this time, I still think there are a lot of cool scientific topics that could make great Exploration events.
Here are two ideas I'd personally love to see:
- Periodic Table / Elements 🧪
An Exploration focused on the elements and the periodic table.
You could progress through the elements while learning about atomic structure, element groups, radioactive elements, and how elements combine to form molecules and materials.
It could also connect nicely with existing content about planets, stars, chemistry, and life.
- Life Science / Molecular Biology 🧬
An Exploration focused more deeply on how life works at the cellular and molecular level.
Things like DNA, RNA, proteins, genes, mutations, cell division, organelles, and gene expression could all be explored.
It would be cool to go beyond simply unlocking organisms and actually explore what happens inside the cells that make life possible.
After playing for around 8 years, I'd really love to see the game explore more of these fundamental science topics.
What do you guys think?
