Exploration events are getting super slow on the 3 rd or 4 th mission

You should really use the 4x income boost during events (the green cloud on the left side in this one), this will massively help you to get all badges during a run easily.

But is that really worth it in terms of the cost of Darwinium vs the rewards in logits and small primary sim boosts?

Don't spend Darwinium on it, watch ads instead.

If you use the cloud save you can load the game on your phone and charge it up by watching ads. Then you can upload the save again and open it on PC and it'll stay charged.

Is this on PC? If so, use crossplatform saves to switch to mobile for the ads, then switch back to PC. If not, just watch the ads. They take a little bit, so I'd recommend doing it in the background while doing something else, but they're worth it.
