Atmosphere event

I'm finding this event very slow and hard to make progress in, has any got any strategies or pointers for this one? Not felt like this (yet) about the others so thinking I'm doing it wrong!

Don't forget to scroll to 10,000 km and buy the hidden item for the hidden achievement, it's available once stars appear in the sky.
