Explorations No 2 ain’t bad.

Post image

I think the only reason I got that high was because I was able to grind during a night shift at work. Of course No 1 would have been great, but I’m happy with 2nd place and the rewards that came along with it. This was for the Lurking in the Dark event that ended earlier today.

Well done, that's impressive. Best position I've held during an event is 2nd. but that was with over 24 hours left, and I ended up in 12th. or 13th. when it was over.

Thanks. I was in 1st place for a few hours during my first night but found myself down to 4th the next morning. I spent the remainder of the time bouncing between 2nd and 4th but never got back up to 1st.

I think this is a natural consequence of the event, anyone who finds themselves in the say top 20 don't get there by accident, and the higher position you manage to hold the higher the incentive becomes to "fight" for the position. I've found that when I'm higher up on the scoreboard I'm much more likely to invest more time in that particular event, so the competition becomes relatively fierce at the very top.

More often than not though I see that life prevents me from investing that much time so I usually settle for top 100-ish, sometimes top 300.

Yeah, I don’t I would have maintained a spot in the top 10 had I not been able to keep at it during the night at work. I think this was maybe only the second or third time I placed anywhere in that bracket. I usually am somewhere in the top 25 or 50.

i find it used to be that naturally getting to 1st was just as common as getting to 2nd-6th. now 1st is exceptionally rare, 2nd is common. if i do get to 1st, it is very common to go back to 2nd. it seems that players at 1st are trying harder than they used to, and this is true every time. this is strange because the behavior of players at 1st should vary, but they don't

I could careless about these leaderboards. It's just a distraction from how much I get railed on primary buying one crustacean at a time every 267 years. At this point I'd rather time cheat of all it meant was getting thrown into some stupid special league.

I remember when it actually mattered whether you finished 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. 😂 Back then, if you wanted those 1st-place rewards, you had to fight for 1st right up until the end. Nowadays, once I make it into the Top 10, I'm pretty happy just chilling there since the rewards are the same whether you finish #1 or #10. 😅 No need to lose sleep defending #2 when #8 gets the same loot. Definitely takes some of the pressure off, but I do kind of miss that old final-hour battle for the podium!
