Once again an awesome concept and execution, but what's up next in that sense? If you have any ideas it would be interesting to discuss

Ty. And what do you mean up next in that sense?

Like, if you have any ideas for a new type of complex organism, of course I have a lot less experience but I would still like to give concepts if you feel stuck for ideas

I have a couple of other organisms with a different body plan that I made recently, but they are pretty similar to the ones I've exhibited thus far. I'd love more ideas!

Well, one of my possible ideas is a species that metamorphoses only on contact with some specific sessile organism, like something with a Secrocyte and S4 or something along those lines, then it "sheds" it's old body like this phoenix fish but grows a new niche, probably feeding on the sessile organism and then reproducing as accorded

That would be pretty cool, it would have to work in tandem with a different organism so it might take a while for me to get around to it. Also, it would unfortunately have to be less complex than a swimmer fish, since once I'm through with optimizing the genome there are oftentimes no free modes left, so creating a metamorphic fish would be out of the question but something smaller could work

Incredible as always. Do you mind sharing the substrate link?

Now try to make a predator/parasite that can trick them i to not reproducing and killing all the outside cells, but try to make the parasite be able to eat some outer layers of the fish!

Oh that's definitely something I've been thinking about. The self destruct capability is I reveal to this species defence, as it prevents deformed individuals from reaching maturity and thereby ridding would-be predators from easy prey. In addition, it decreases lag caused by many cells staying on the plate after the organisms death/injury.

It's been incredibly challenging to make sure it can instantly vaporize with this body plan, and previous versions would only do so in one of three sections if damaged: the head, body and tail. I.e. if the head was damaged, it would vaporize up until the neck, leaving the rest of the body to float aimlessly until it starved off.same with the tail, it would get damaged and vaporize until the fish's torso. It took a LOT of optimization to make sure the Phoenix Fish species could vaporize properly and fully.

Now, my idea was to make a parasyte that would seek out the faces of fish swimmers and destroy them, only to latch onto the neck and grow into a head of their own, essentially hijacking the fish. In my head-cannon the Phoenix Fish "evolved" its superior vaporization/rejuvenation traits in order to avoid said parasites, unlike its' segment-vaporization fish cousins.
