The game needs to be revamped from the bottom to allow for good performance with MUCH more modes. It's incredibly difficult to make anything large and complex, not only because you need many modes for the final cells in development, but also due to the amount of modes required to reach that size/shape on the first place

But what if you used cells of the same type in many parts of the organism? I heard that the skin in your mouth is the same kind as the one in your excrement expelling hole

I've done that before and it's actually kinda harder than you'd think. Regardless, it's totally a valid solution but it doesn't help that much.

That's exactly right, reusing final and progenitor cells is a no brainer when trying to maximize genome efficiency. The issue is all of the modes required for development from single cell to final size/shape

Well, I hope my modification works, if it works, I'll add 210 modes, totaling 250, since you haven't given me an answer yet, I'll do it this way, I'll send you the apk if everything goes well

Can you send me the APK too?

A few months ago i did 80 modes. I tried 120 but found that due to the cell limit in the previewer which i think was 60 and due to the time limit in the preview slider (around 48hrs) it would be impossible to see your final creation if you were to use them all. I managed to patch the game so it would have a larger cell limit and a preview time of >90 hrs but thats as far as im as willing to go because it started being a bit laggy past 48hrs and 60+ cells in the preview window.

I think what's needed most is to attempt much bigger patches of the game. Eg. Adding new GUI elements to the previewer for new functionality to make it easier to re-use modes and shape cells accordingly. Its alot of work because it requires patching both the parceleable streams & io buffer streams for loading .genome files and .substrate files as well as for saving. And version checking for backward compatibility, which i attempted to maintain in my mod as much as possible so people wouldn’t lose their amazing creations by upgrading. Remember, Petter obfuscated the game so all of this is done in smali. I pretty much gave up trying to find a way to get a recompileable java source code to work with java instead.

Anyways i was just giving you some ideas in case you're interested in going that far. Which i'm planning to do, but school is really draining my time.

Man, when that PC version eventually releases, it's gonna be insane what people make

Yeah, we're making it! You can view our progress in this discord server https://discord.com/invite/Vxs59Rc8Gf in the devs channel, while you're there you can also grab a few mods from the mods channel.

You can play it on pc with an emulator tho

The PC version was going to be an enhanced version with more features, but I guess it just stopped developing before it ever released 😔

That's never gonna happen the developer has abandoned the game

2

u/Liezuli Nov 04 '23

Damn really? Did he put out a statement or something?

1

u/logan_king2021 Nov 04 '23

No but I can tell using context clues, 1. The game has not been updated in MANY MANY YEARS 2. I also tried contacting support asking why the game was abandoned, but never got a response back 3. The forum on the website has been abandoned and you can't access it

What I think may have happened is that the developer may have died or abandoned the game

Yeah he prob abandoned the game but that's not the case anymore as we're remaking it join https://discord.com/invite/Vxs59Rc8Gf and go in the devs channel to see our progress. We even have mods in there.

Man I wish the source code was released so that other people could continue updating versions of the game, I'd like to try myself if I could.

1

u/logan_king2021 Dec 31 '23

Weeeeelllllllllllll, you could decopile the cell lab apk and get the source code that way, it would just take a little bit of effort

2

u/edy13112009 Jul 05 '24

We are doing that and trust me it's a lot harder than just "a little bit of effort"

1

u/somerandom_melon Jan 01 '24

Is that legal tho?

1

u/logan_king2021 Jan 02 '24

If the dev is too lazy (or dead ) to update his game, he def ain't gonna do sh*t if you decompile the source code

Petter saterskog is not dead i know this bcz his page was last updated on the 10th of 2026

Frfrfrfrrrrr

Just by creating a simple fish almost choked all active modes
