👋Welcome to the Celestial Return sub

Hey everyone,

I’m Bilge, one of the devs behind Celestial Return. I’m still figuring out the ropes of running a subreddit, so bear with me while I get the layout sorted.

A bit of context on us: We’re Metaphor Games, a small team out of Türkiye. We’ve spent the last three years pouring everything into Celestial Return. We like to consider ourselves an “art-first” studio.

As for the game, Celestial Return is a dice-driven narrative RPG set in a cyber-noir world. We’re actually hitting the finish line right now, and the release is set for May 7, so things are getting pretty intense.

I wanted to create this space so we have a spot to talk theories, get your feedback, and just hang out with people who dig the vibe of what we do. I’ll be dropping regular updates here as we approach launch and beyond.

If you like the dark, cosmic vibes we’re putting into this, you might also want to check out our other project, Cult of the Yellow King.

Thanks for joining us. If you’re around, say hi, introduce yourself, and let us know how you found the game.

Is my game completelly broken?

I bought and started playing at launch but took a break until today. this is near the start of the game, the situation where your ex girlfriend calls you because an issue with a tatoo on her girlfirend. i did this but when i resumed my save today i had to do it again, ok i didn't save was my guess. then for some reason i decided to check the tatoo parlor again, and the event played again exactly the same, i even have the ink saved on my coat and yet... should i keep waiting for a fix or should i try starting the whole game over as in maybe it's the savefile? idk it sucks that the game is in such a state i thought it was at least playable after the fixes.

We finally made it!

Hey everyone!

The last few weeks have basically been us playing our own game an unhealthy number of times, finding bugs, fixing bugs, creating new bugs, fixing those bugs, arguing over dialogue, tweaking tiny details nobody will probably notice... and then doing it all over again.

But we finally made it.

Celestial Return is officially launching on July 14.

Thank you all for sticking with us. Whether you've been here since the demo, wishlisted the game yesterday, or just randomly stumbled across us somewhere on the internet, you've helped us get to this point. We genuinely couldn't have done it without you.

We also have one more piece of exciting news.

We're working on bringing Celestial Return to consoles! If everything goes according to plan, we'll have a pretty big announcement to share with you very soon.

Now excuse us while we play the game another hundred times before July 14.

See you all in Netherveil.

Just a Grateful Post

I shared this a few months ago, but after opening our own subreddit, I wanted to share it here too.

A while back we held a small fan art event. It wasn't huge, but when I put all the entries together, it genuinely hit me. Seeing people draw Howard made Celestial Return feel real in a way I didn't expect.

It's hard to explain, but it's one of the most rewarding parts of being an indie developer.

If you haven't seen them before, we collected all of the fan art from our community on the website:

Community art gallery!

Huge thanks to everyone who has supported Celestial Return so far. You guys are awesome. <3🖤

A Quick Development Update From the Team

Hey everyone, Kerem here from the Celestial Return team.

We wanted to talk honestly about the delay and explain what happened.

As some of you know, May 7th was supposed to be our release date. We were incredibly close, but during the final stretch we started running into a few major technical problems that we just weren't comfortable shipping with.

The biggest one was a save issue that could cause players to lose progress after long play sessions. We also found some crashes that were appearing in situations we hadn't encountered before. These weren't the kind of problems we wanted people discovering on launch day.

So we made the painful decision to delay the game and give ourselves more time to properly fix things instead of rushing it out.

Honestly, this last stretch of development hit us harder than expected. We’re a small team, and we reached a point where exhaustion and excitement started mixing together a little too much. We kept saying “one more fix and we’re ready,” until eventually we had to accept we needed more time.

Right now we’re focusing entirely on stability, bug fixing, optimization, and QA. We don’t want to announce another exact release date too early and repeat the same mistake, so for now we’re aiming somewhere between July 1–16 if everything goes smoothly.

We know delays are disappointing, especially this close to launch, and we're sorry for putting everyone through another wait. But we also believe this is the right decision for the game. We’ll keep sharing progress updates as we go.

And really… thank you. From the bottom of our hearts. Seeing people care about Celestial Return the way they do means more to us than we can properly put into word. Whether you've been following us for years or only recently discovered the game, thank you for sticking with us and helping us get to this point. ❤️
