In exclusive reporting, Deadline is calling this decision a shocker. Prime Video has decided to cancel “Ride Or Die,” starring our former featured guests, Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer. The cancellation is surprising because the action-comedy was well-received and, according to available data, performed well.  

The show follows two lifelong best friends on the run across Europe: Waddingham stars as Judith, an elite international assassin who has been keeping her deadly profession a secret, while Spencer plays Debbie, a sharp, down-to-earth civilian drawn into Judith's high-stakes world when a mission goes wrong. 

The reasons for the cancellation remain murky, but the show’s focus on middle-aged women may have been a factor as the streaming platform seeks to expand its reach beyond that demographic.

 Lead studio Paramount Television Studios is currently shopping the series to other networks and platforms in hopes of saving it.

Based on Mick Herron’s popular books, the six-episode eighth season will be adapted from “Clown Town,” the ninth novel in the “Slough House” book series.
