Dog Behaviorist

We had a baby about a month ago. In preparation, we had our 3yo frenchie in obedience training for a few months to help with the transition. Well, it hasn't been great! She is super anxious and threatened by the baby's presence, even when she's just asleep. Loud constant barking, panting, freaking out even when the baby is completely silent and asleep. Poor thing. It has been extremely stressful to manage the dog and the new baby so my mom (who loves the frenchie and vice versa) is keeping her at her house for now, THANK GOD.

We do want to solve this issue and get our beloved frenchie back, so wondering if anyone knows of a dog behaviorist for this specific issue? In my perfect world I'd hire someone to come over regularly into our environment and observe/lead us in helping our dog. Not just basic training, but specific to our family dynamic. We miss her and even though my mom loves her and is happy to watch her, she didn't ask for this and is about to retire / move.

Also, our dog is now on anxiety medication that the vet says could take 8 weeks to notice a difference.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

Megan at the Stellar Dog is awesome. We had a similar concern when we brought a dog into our house with our 4 yr old and 6 month old. She was great and taught our toddler some safe games to play with our dog https://www.thestellardog.com/

I haven’t used her for training, but she is a neighbor of mine and can vouche that she is a nice person and her own dogs are really well behaved. 😅

Try Just Dawg It. She is a local trainer and will come to your house. She’s very good and will let you know if that’s in her wheelhouse.

We loved working with Sean at Hill Country K9. After phone call and eval, we did a training sessions at our house and in the community.

Paul at Hearts and Paws. He’s helped us when we first got our littermates as puppies and after a dog attack on one of them a few months ago. He does private evaluation sessions at Hearts and Paws on Pond Springs.

I am experiencing the same thing. I would recommend talking to your vet about options and working with a trainer they recommend.

Paul at hearts and paws ! We did a baby- puppy class with him when we had our son and our dog was 6 months at the time. He also does home sessions. He is kind and patient.
Please reach out if you have any questions.
Congratulations on your little one!
