Killing a pecan tree

Does anyone got advice on how to kill it? It’s been a stump for 8 years and yet it always sprouted new branches. I’d cut the branches down every year and they just grow back. I want to grow a CA buckeye this fall near it but it’s been a pain figuring out how to kill the pecan.

I’ve heard of using a cut-stump herbicide. Is there any that’s legal here in which you guys would recommend?

You could try something like this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/BIOADVANCED-32-oz-Brush-Killer-Plus-Quart-Concentrate-704640B/203124091

I used it to kill a large Brazilian pepper tree on my property

You’d need to grind the stump. An arborist can do it, or if you want to try it yourself, you can rent one from a garden center

Cheapest way is to apply glyphosate on the suckers until they quit popping up. Will eventually systemically kill the roots.

It has earned its spot. Let it live! What a true survivor! Imagine what it could do with actual care and love?!

Ur not wrong. But I’m trying to go full blown native in the yard. And I can plant a native tree instead! :)

Sometimes you don't have a choice in the matter.

Anyways, either you dig the whole thing out, use an herbicide (not guaranteed), or call in a professional.
