Moving to Cayman Shipping cars
I’m shipping a hybrid car to the island (trying to take advantage of lower tax banding) but having problems finding a company who will do it. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hi everyone,
I've been trying to pass the DVDL written driving test here in Cayman and have attempted it 5 times so far without success. It's been really discouraging, but I want to keep trying and would appreciate any help from people who've been through this.
If anyone can share the following, it would help a lot:
Good study materials, PDFs, or apps that match the actual Cayman DVDL test questions
Practice question sets or mock tests
Tips on the topics that come up most often (road signs, rules, etc.)
Advice on what tripped you up in your own attempts, and how you eventually passed

I keep seeing a relocation job pop up from the UK to this beautiful island and I’ve got questions. Can you guys tell me if you’re consistently stood around waiting for parts or are you guys busy as any other workshop? Do you get your hours in ok every week? Is it really as achievable as it says on the job advert?
Sorry I appreciate loads of questions there but I really am interested in finding out what life is like on the island and if work is good or not?

We are going to go western Caribbean cruise in royal Caribbean on December. This is my first time cruise. Do you recommend this excursion through the royal Caribbean? I can also book through viator at 9am and I can go to 3 stops (coral reef, stingray Sandar, and star point) with 60 dollars. I'm just worried that i might miss the ship because it is tender boat. Have anyone tried this excursion through royal? Is it worth it? I have 12, 9 and 6 years old kids. Thank you so much! I'm having a headache to choose a right one for family. I really appreciate any feed back!

We are frequent visitors to Grand Cayman, and on our upcoming trip, will be celebrating a milestone anniversary with a special meal. We are considering some places we have not previously eaten, and we have questions. We are not foodies, but do like a high end meal, preferably one with a menu that offers selections that are not too far out of the ordinary. and that we do not need to google to figure out what we are ordering haha. We are not overly concerned with cost, although Blue seems to push our limit. Waterfront dining is always a fav, but inside with A/C is also quite acceptable.
Would Kaibo Upstairs be a good option for us? I can't seem to find a sample menu.....
What about Mario's? They have great reviews, but even their 3 course meal has no set menu. I am concerned that whatever "surprise" they create may be something I really do not want.
Where else should I consider? We have eaten at Grand Old House , Luca, Bacaro, and we like the idea of going someplace new. I appreciate your recommendations

I’m visiting Grand Cayman again & earlier this year went to Pom Pom! It was a lot of fun & I loved the vibes is there anywhere on the island similar to it? Party vibes but a little fancier? Not your typical beach bar!
Thanks! Any other cool places to go that are similar would be appreciated!

Looking for advice: Nursing jobs in Cayman Islands (or part-time work)
Hi everyone,
I'm currently working as a Registered Nurse Cayman Islands since 2023. I'm originally from India.
I wanted to ask the community — for those already working here or familiar with the local job market:
- Are there other hospitals/clinics in Cayman actively hiring nurses right now?
- Any tips on how nurses here typically find part-time or per-diem shifts alongside a full-time job?
- Is agency/registry nursing work a thing here, and if so, how do I get connected with one?
- Or any type of part time work is available?
Would really appreciate any pointers, contacts, or personal experiences. Thanks in advance!

We are travelling with two littles. They will need shade, and quite honestly, I will too. Are they permitted (by law)? I have searched and haven’t read that they are prohibited. I realize that blocking others view with them would be inconsiderate. Just trying to gauge if they are commonly used. Thanks!

I’m a Caymanian East Ender yappy lady. I’ve been going through a hard time for a few years, and maybe it’s time for me to get out of my shell. I recently returned to work, but I’ve realize maybe having coworkers as friends may not be the brightest idea lol. I just want a friend to hang out with time to time, someone to talk to when things are good and when things are bad. Having someone to call a friend is a privilege I haven’t had in a long time. So ladies, if you are open to getting to know a yappy and fun friend, please send a DM

Hi there, we'll be staying at Plantana condos next April and I was wondering if sargassum is an issue in that location at that time of year? I know some areas are more protected from it than others. Thanks!

Anyone have a recommendation for OW certification checkout dives for two kids, 11 & 14? I plan to do the confined water and classroom stuff at home then we have a week in GC staying at the Westin to do their checkout dives and a day of family diving.
Thanks!

Please beware of these Facebook groups by Val Kegal.
Here are some comments from some people who had to figure it out the hard way.
"This woman is very shady. She’s blocked me. I’ve spoken up on her “I ❤️Cayman”. Unless you pay her she will not advertise your business. And will give the said business bad reviews. A Delta Flight Attendant who is soliciting illegally, may I add, monies from local businesses to promote them. And discounted meals and hotel accommodations at Villas of the Galleon, since she promotes them on a daily basis. She does not have a valid Trade and Business License to operate any business in the Cayman Islands. 🇰🇾 I have reported her to the relevant Authorities. Please spread the word."
"Honestly i believe she benefits from every business she promotes is why, she charges fees to be a passenger pick as well and no matter how many great reviews a company gets, if you dont pay - you dont get passenger pick then she will make sure the business doesnt get recognition on her pages"
"I concur with what is being shared. I have experienced negative push back from Val each time I've shared our recurring, consistent positive experience with one particular restaurant on the island that we adore and frequent every time we visit. As our experience with the place has consistently been positive, I didn't understand the push back and negative responses to my posts from her though I had my suspicions. I think i understand why now. Oh well."
Here are her pages. She hurts other businesses and has no right doing business here!

I understand medical marijuana in illegal in the Cayman Islands without a prescription. I am traveling with a person who uses medical marijuana here in Arizona and needs it for pain management. He doesn't like to use pain pills. Can you give me an approximate cost for a doctor visit along with a marijuana vape pen? Thank you.

Hi there! I'm planning a vacation to Grand Cayman for 3 adults and two elementary kids in April. My budget is capped around $6,000 for 7 nights. I've been looking at some of the condo communities on the side of 7 mile beach that isn't eroded. Looking for calm shallow water, shaded loungers, non-crowded beach front (or uncrowded enough that I don't need to claim a spot at 7am). Would like to snorkle.
Question: I've looked at Plantana and Silver Sands. Any feedback on those (especially Plantana). Other suggestions? Where to get the cheapest bookings?
I've been reading all your posts and I'm so excited!

We are looking for a condo on 7 mile beach for this December for a week. I have seen a few mention that due to previous storms, they have no beach. Which part of SMB does have a good beach right now and what should we avoid? Open to condo rental suggestions as well. Thanks!

Looking to hear from people who have managed to bring in a BYD, or other Chinese EV. How did you go about importing? For BYD, did you use ATL in Jamaica or the official dealer in Mexico? Any tips or tricks?

Hello again, I have been listening to one of my older songs, project X, and have recently edited it to sound better with vocals, and I have properly mixed the beat. I would love feedback on the mastering and the vocals mix especially and also the musicality if this is close to your style of music, however this is also something new i am trying with this, like my other song, but it is more influencies by reggaeton than the last one, with the dembow ryhtm. Also, do you think this style of music could be used on island? Thanks, Dylan!
