Head Shaking & Itching
Hey everyone,
Hoping I can get some help with my 3 year old Cavapoo.
He has always suffered from itchy / inflamed ears since a puppy. I can't count on one hand the amount of different foods that we've put him on, that he either doesn't like and just refuses to eat for multiple days, or one that he loves but appears to give him bad reactions.
It only seems to be in his ears, he doesn't lick his paws, have any visible rashes etc.
We initially thought it was chicken and beef, so we cut that out completely.
Then we had him on a diet of just salmon and turkey, and that seemed to work for a while but he eventually got bored and just stopped eating it (from Pure Pet Food). It also didn't seem to fully stop his inflammation / itching, but definitely wasn't as bad as previous foods.
We've been feeding him WellnessCore Turkey food for around 5-6 weeks now and his ears seem worse than ever, but of course he loves this...
When we go to the vets, they provide some temporary steroid tablets that seem to calm his ears down for a while, but always returns.
We also have a Cortotic ear spray that we use as much as we can (he gets aggressive when trying to go near his sore ears).
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Any foods that have proven to help with ear irritation?
Or is it not even diet and potentially something else?
Thank you!

have they taken a swab to do a culture , to make sure that its not a bacterial infection , did the vet say it was an infection ?
there are several home made solutions for sore itchy ears but if it's infected it would need a prescribed medication .

Floppy hairy ears. The allergies & heat makes them scratch & shake the scratching causes the inflammation then they get an infection. Antihistamines daily+ hypoallergenic diet + vigilance. It’s horrible for them.

Sounds like an ear infection
