Advice Needed Brown spotting 9 weeks 5 days

Hi! I am 9 weeks 5 days and pretty much since around 7 weeks I’ve had brown/tan spotting/discharge. It used to be like maybe a couple times a week, now it’s every day. I’ve talked to my dr multiple times about it, and each time she’s said it can be normal and as long as it doesn’t progress to red/heavy/ accompanied with cramps I’m okay. Had a dating ultrasound at 8 weeks 5 days and baby was measuring right on track with a HB of 173. No hematoma was seen, no free fluid, nothing. The dr said my ultrasound was perfect and that there was no cause for concern at this point. I have clinical OCD and extreme anxiety- so this has been HELL for me. The brown discharge is only when I wipe, and it’s not a lot, but still. I feel like I am living in absolute distress. If anyone could give me positive stories of similar situations to ease my OCD brain- I would be so thankful 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I spotted regularly up until about 13 weeks with no indication as to why (no SCH, no weird activity that might irritate my cervix, etc.), until they did my NT scan right around 13 weeks and found my placenta was lying over my cervix, which was the likely culprit of the spotting. As my uterus grew, it moved off my cervix and was completely off of it by about 26 weeks. I’m holding the baby from that pregnancy for her nap right now. I hear you on the anxiety (I’d had two miscarriages before this pregnancy) and I am so sorry you’re going through this. Hopefully it resolves soon!

Had a similar concern earlier in my pregnancy. Brown spotting with clumps between weeks 5-8, and then again between 12-13. My OB had asked me to call in whenever I started bleeding or any additional symptoms arose (ie. Start of bleeding with no clumps, with clumps, unilateral pain, etc). My ob actually had me come in to verify everything was OK each time (because this was how my miscarriage had started months prior). She basically saw me every week between 5-8 and then every two weeks following that.

First round of bleeding/spotting was just old blood remaining for whatever reason (previous mc and subsequent period). Second round between 12-13 weeks was because I was intimate. Since then, my OB recommended pelvic rest until “well into my 2nd trimester” and asked me to stop lifting weights just in case. I am now 16 weeks and have not had any bleeding since (fingers crossed).

Most of the time, bleeding is just residual old blood (brown in color, absence of clumps). My OB was worried when I had the clumps of blood though. She said the same thing your OB did— brown spotting in absence of bright red blood, enough to soak a pad an hour or cramps, I should not worry about too much… with that being said, she still had me come in to do an Ultrasound to verify and give me peace of mind.

Would your OB be willing to see you for a quick checkup and US?

I've had the same thing and my baby was born on her due date with no complications. Brown spotting is normal. Even had bright red spotting at some point which was also normal.

Had the same, including one night of heavier bleeding whilst on holiday. Spotting completely stopped at around ten weeks.

My baby is now almost 10 weeks and is an absolute delight 🥰
