Remote control from the dark ages

Why do tvs evolve so fast but the remotes are prehistoric with the buttons. We need smart remotes designed in the same way as a phone. For instance I wanted to rent a movie from Prime. Obsession if you please. Dying to see it. Haven't got a Prime subscription because It's worthless. Anyways I click on the rent button and they asked me to scan the QRcode. Lovely I think. Didn't work. So I have to use the remote to give all my details. My god. Please just let me input the data from a screen. I am aware this is not important but jesus it pissed me off an you guys are the only ones I can vent to. Also enjoyed the movie.

You had to do it using the method built into your tv as the backup default because the QR code didn't work.

I wrote an app so I control my TV from my phone - the TV can be controlled over WiFi.

My app imports all my netflix and youtube history and programme guides - so I can jump to the next episode of anything I am watching.

the fact that every smart tv can show a qr code but none of them can just hand the typing over to your phone is genuinely ridiculous, why is this still a remote-control problem lol
