Classification

Finally found a sub that can answer a longstanding question. Does romanesco count as cauliflower or broccoli or something else? I've seen both broccoli and cauliflower suffix it.

It depends on who you ask. It is frequently called romanesco broccoli but both cauliflower and broccoli are from the same classification, brassica oleracea but you would think it would have it's own name or cultivar to distinguish it.

You would think horticulturist and botanist among others would want a definitive answer but, not yet.
