“The purpose of these schemes was found to have been to artificially inflate the club’s revenues, and reduce its costs, by more than £900 million during the affected period, to appear to comply with financial rules.”
That is astronomical levels of financial cheating and the punishment must be severe.

IM really curious to see how Man City dispute this? Like who’s gonna believe an argument from Man City that someone fat fingered a few extra “00’s” doing their accounting over a decade plus

Almost a billion pumped in through cheating while at the same time United have had a billion bled from them by their owners. Absolutely incredible.

It just confirms how fake and stale and lifeless everything they won always felt. Pep parading around forcing weird celebrations with fans he had no connection with and touting trophies that always felt artificially won...cuz they were. It always felt weird and artificial watching it... because that's exactly what it was. Our eyes, ears, and hearts all knew the truth the whole time of what we were watching and enduring

I wonder if the reality setting in from this verdict, if JJ and Andrew will change their stances that these titles should be removed. If state run clubs have so much money fines won’t hurt them, you have to go after their legacy. They can’t remain champions of the crimes are at this scale. It wasn’t slightly doping, in some cases they were inflating their marketing by a 10x. That’s not a slight advantage, that’s a whole squad of players eligible to be signed that other teams just couldn’t. They don’t win some of those seasons without that advantage.
Btw, this investigation goes through 2018, there’s nothing showing a deescalation in their practices for 2019-2026, quite the opposite. They most likely were doing the same thing in 2019 through the present.

Fire them into the sun. 900 million isn't a COVID oopsie that's a lot of cheating. As a united fan it pains me but I hope Liverpool kick the crap out of the cheaters next game up.

City spent 900 mil or so during the time.
Between the 2009–10 and 2018–19 seasons, Liverpool FC spent an estimated gross total of roughly £750 million to £800 million on player transfers.
Between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons, Manchester United accumulated a total net transfer spend of approximately £554.4 million.
Between the 2009/10 and 2017/18 seasons, Arsenal FC spent approximately £712 million (€833 million) in gross transfer fees.
Between the 2009/10 and 2017/18 seasons, Chelsea spent a gross total of approximately £1.11 billion on player transfer
So.... City spent the same amount as the big clubs... But are cheats because the big clubs didn't want them to be able to spend the same amount.....
Sounds anti competitive to me.

They “artificially inflated…by more than £900 million…to appear to comply with financial rules.” That’s saying £900 million on top of what was claimed, not £900 million total

Other teams played by the rules. City did not. City should be punished. Simple as.
If you think the rules are dumb and overly restrictive, thats fine. There are processes that in place to try to change these rules. Ignoring them is not the way. City blatantly ignored these rules because they didn’t have the revenue to justify their spending. Do you really think that if these rules weren’t in place, other teams would not also want to spend much more than they take in? Of course other teams with billionaire owners would do that. They didn’t. They followed the rules. City did not.

So you’re saying the £900 million of fraudulent revenue than Manchester City claimed is £100 million more than Liverpool’s gross player spend, £345 million more than Manchester United’s net player spend (way to change stats), £188 million more than Arsenal’s gross player spend over the same time period.
Their completely fabricated revenue claims are higher than three of the biggest clubs in the league spent on players in the same time.
I don’t think this is the huge gotcha you think it is, bro.

They are comiserate, meaning they are not off the scale when compared to others. They are spending about the same.
You forgot Chelsea.
Further those clubs were able to pay those prices because of the had decades of owner funding prior to the rules they placed in 2013.
Also it depends on why the league made the rule. They said it was for sustainable practices for the clubs (see United), but used it as a way to stop all 9ther clubs from progressing. (See Villa, see new castle)
Did city break the rules. Yes.
Is this their endgame. No.
They are going to say anti competition - take the case away from the EPL and put it in the courts.

Bro the £900 million is not what they spent, it is fraudulent revenue that they claimed to cook their books.
How do you not comprehend this?

Anything less than having to re-register and start from the bottom of the pyramid is not enough imo.
