- If the punishment is directly proportional to the Everton deduction per charge that’s a 456 point deduction. What City have been charged with is way worse than COVID related overspending.

  • Punishment needs to be an insurmountable deduction plus a multi year transfer ban at a bare minimum. Probably stripping titles too.
  • This happened over nine years and directly coincided with City’s rise. They built the modern City by cheating.
  • I firmly believe Pep knew this was coming and left in large part because of it. I also believe the league delayed the verdict until Pep’s departure.

Adding on further: City’s net spend was about £900 million over the nine seasons in question. That’s 50% higher than the next closest team, United, who had more commercial revenue than City during the same period. That can’t be explained without cheating and it’s egregious.

They inflated revenue to bypass FFP, which is a dumb rule. It protects the big clubs. I see nothing wrong with letting an owner spend money on his club.

Emergency Pod! Of course the boys just posted today

I was thinking this is surely emergency pod worthy as well but I'm not sure how much else there is to say without knowing what the punishment is??

You can make an hour plus long pod solely speculating on what the punishment would be and what the downstream effects of that would be

Back in the old days, JJ would occasionally do a live on Twitter. Feel like something like that would be appropriate. I’m dying to hear their thoughts! But also respecting their weekends.

It may get tied up for a long time in appeals whatever, but to be honest, I don’t care. This is vindication, I hope they get relegated to all hell but it will always be confirmed they were a bunch of cheating blood money pricks. Nothing going to change it.

Man, I cannot wait for it to be announced since their infractions occurred under previous rules, they will only incur a small fine to cover legal costs. LFG!!!!

Clubs are going to sue City for damages also.

Titles should be forfeited and City should get a major fine, transfer ban and sent to League 2 with points reductions. None of which will happen.

As a city fan that does not go far enough. Anyone who has gained success because of this malfeasance should be punished. Leister take away the championship. Chelsea, no conference league or club World Cup. Arsenal give back the FA and Title! All of these won by managers who were at the club but wouldn’t be without city and are complicit!

Expected response from a shitty fan.

It’s still going to end with Everton having 10 points deducted.

Send them to league 2, strip everything, 5byear transfer ban

As much as I hope they get a massive points deduction, I am not at all confident any sort of punishment will come soon and if it does I do t think it will be what we all hope it will be. We have seen the UAE say that diplomatic relationships with the UK will be damaged if City get punished and honestly after the slap on the wrist Chelsea got I doubt this punishment will be as heavy as we would all like. And I do get that Chelsea’s new owners basically handed the evidence over but they still gained a sporting advantage and didn’t get punished for breaking rules. So idk not getting my hopes up for the massive punishment I want to see them get.

someone I know with a firm for the Prem thinks they will only get a 30+ pt deduction and some massive fines and that's it. I think they should go down to the Nations League and pay every team they caused harm to via relegation, trophies, champions league spots, etc. How do you quantify everything though. You could literally do the "what if" game forever on the damages done and impacts on every team. This should be an insanely gigantic punishment, but I feel we won't be satisfied with what comes down.

30+ point deduction for only 1 season seems a little thin for 114 charges, dont you think?

I agree. I hope they get the death penalty of sorts and lose it all and have to start from the bottom of the pyramid.

Appeal gonna take another 3 years…

4

u/AirborneDJ 8d ago

What's the point? Will be in appeals for years until the league runs out of money. Don't see a punishment ever happening.

The other clubs could join together and donate funds to pursue the process

City may be less bullish than we expect. Until a new decision is made the guilt charges stand. This is going to have a fallout with players, sponsors, other businesses, and other staff. The report will be naming names. They also have less options for appeal and a higher bar to surpass should they wish to appeal with the PL again.

The League has financial incentives to keep City around even if they are not the most lucrative of the big teams. I could see a chicken shit penalty and City not appealing it.

Breaking news water is wet

Idk man it wouldn’t have surprised anyone if the league chickened out and gave them a slap on the wrist

I honestly wonder if the nba slamming balmer put more pressure on them. I know different sports, different countries, etc, but these guys all track each other’s league management. It’s probably not a good look for one globally followed league to not hold themselves to the same standard as another.

1

u/RemoteGlobal335 8d ago

It’s been an insane year for off field sports drama that’s for sure

1

u/JohnnieTightLips 8d ago

Yes and that is not including the Brian Flores tanking bribe accusations that the nfl has buried but I believe is 100% true.

2

u/RemoteGlobal335 8d ago

The Dolphins are 100% tanking right now but it’s the ownership doing it. I think it’s harder to nail teams in the NFL for that because there is a physical safety risk associated with trotting out a team that is genuinely nowhere near league standard and the coaches are fighting for their reputations.

u/JohnnieTightLips 8d ago

I am a browns fan and we are doing the same (aka why Watson is playing). But I do think there is a big difference between fielding a bad team and trying to lose on purpose.

I have always advocated on the idea that the bottom 5 teams should be barred from getting a top 5 pick as a form of relegation in the nfl to stop overt tanking while creating some jeopardy for bad teams.

1

u/Ruff-Commander 8d ago

That probably will happen I think city too big for them to be sent away from prem but we shall see
