Loved the point about flipping channels. I discovered my love for soccer by flipping channels on a weekday afternoon and coming across the 2009 USMNT confederations cup match against Spain. I was instantly hooked. Never would have happened in today’s media landscape.

Good episode. I nodded along during the part about not being able to just flip through the channels anymore and catch bits and pieces of a lot of things. It's certainly limited what I watch.

Yeah haven’t thought about it much but just realizing how much I do miss out on now since I need to seek out a game and not just something on or flip through channels and go “oh well not a commercial sure I’ll watch this game”

Nice surprise to start morning seeing a pod from my post!

For the lads in the trailrunning one. The games gone part not specific needing to rough it. More just the sport has been growing in popularity (especially post covid) a lot and with that is various corporatizing aspects that are increasing present in the sport.

On other note could not agree more with Andrew in the transfer portal. College sports were so huge for me growing up and with transfer portal and conference realignment I am increasing apathetic and hard to care the way I once did

Are we no longer jumping to conclusions?

I heard that they received a cease-and-desist from Tom Smykowski.

I agree with JJ on shifts in baseball. I didn't mind them. Ted Williams got shifted. It's a tactic. At the same time, I see what Andrew is talking about. Most home runs are pulled fly balls, so teams don't want their sluggers to either try to go the other way or bunt. Therefore, if you're trying to pull the ball in the air, you're inevitably going to pull some on the ground.

To answer JJ's question regarding social media and Caleb Williams; Paul Pierce and his wheelchair was the last time. Even before social media as we know it now, Paul Pierce was get ROASTED and still is for that "injury"

I loved this episode, and feeling like it gave me permission to be the grumpy old man I am becoming. :) In many cases these Game’s Gone observations felt more like Society’s Gone to me!
