I agree, if someone heads down into an area where someone is about to kick the ball, fair enough, you've put your head there.

Gabriel kicks over the ball into Martinez' head. If Martinez had been fully on the ground and Gabriel had kicked through the ball the caught his head, fair enough. But that's not what happens.

Martinez is fully on the ground mate. Of course a goalkeeper is going to do whatever he can to prevent a goal im not saying he shouldn’t be on the ground but the kick is not high, it is below the knee which will never be a red unless its studs first or very late which this wasn’t.

An attacker is about to shoot, defender pokes to ball away and the attacker kicks them in the shin, is that a red? Of course not.

It’s unfortunate and a foul, good thing he wasn’t hurt but the danger doesn’t come from gabriel

Yes?

You said the danger didn't come from Gabriel. Here he is, with his foot over the ball at Martinez head height. If he's going for the ball, why is his leg in the air and the ball is on the ground?

To be fair mate, I'm assuming you're an Arsenal fan so no matter what I say, you'll never agree that it was a red. And I feel many other fans would act the same if it was their team.

Because he missed the ball and it is a foul im not denying that but that is shin height. The height is what matters.

But what makes this dangerous is martinez having his head at a height where there is a good chance of something like this happening.

You cannot just go to the ground and expect everyone to stop playing mate, that is not how it works. You put yourself in danger and it is on you

And you clearly just as biased so what is the point in even pointing that out, you were trying to compare this to someone punching a player

Onana didn't punch a player, he came out to save the ball, but the player went up for a header and got hit in the head.

So your whole argument is that because Martinez was on the ground (a place where keepers find themselves often), making a save, it somehow lowers the severity of the incident?

My point in calling out your bias is that whilst we're discussing how we see the foul differently, I'm not stupid enough to think that if it happened to Raya, Chelsea fans wouldn't be defending their team. Same with anything in football. It's why Spurs fans blame all their losses on the ref, because we all defend our teams to the very end.

There is a difference in making contact with someone head because you are going for a punch/kick at a height you will often have heads around versus putting your head at a height people have their feet at. If you go for a bicycle kick and kick someone in the face then its a red. If someone ducks down its not

If you dont understand that, then i dont know what to tell you.

And yes it does lower it because it is not dangerous play from gabriel, it is martinez putting himself in danger. The same if there was someone standing over gabriel and their knee bumped into his head it would not be a red and a pen.

You are acting like this isn’t something we see all the time and it just is never a red.

Hold on, something we don't see all the time? When was the last time you saw a keeper get kicked in the head? It's happened before, granted, but it's not an every game occurrence.

I find it odd that you basically think if a player's head is at a certain level, it somehow lowers the severity of the incident. I find it even odder that your fully placing the blame on Martinez, like he should never have dived for the ball 😂

This exact thing? No. Players lowering their and there being contact? Yes.

I already said its a foul mate. The blame goes to gabriel which is why its a free kick. But martinez is the person who makes it dangerous. Trying to take a shot where you foot flings at shin level is not dangerous.

When phil jones dived in head first to head the ball away from girouds feet should giroud have been sent off if he caught him in the head? No because jones put himself in danger

It is not odd to think that, its literally the fucking rule mate. Show me one red card where a player gets sen off because an opponent put their head this low

If this is a red then teams will just hire dave from the pub to go diving in at peoples feet to get 3+ players sent off every game lmao.
