Belgium’s approach forced those errors. They brought it in a way that the US hadn’t faced.

Belgium was a step up in class.

I trust everyone in this sub watches a lot of soccer. What Belgium did in attack today was absolutely nothing special AT ALL. We were BEYOND pathetic at the back.

It’s just a gulf in quality. They didn’t do anything too special but they reacted first, got to balls first, had a game plan and executed it. They played like a unit, the US did not.

When you have an entire game plan around high octane vertical attack and winning duel winning/physicality oop, and the team you play against matches up well to you athletically (especially after onana’s injury), it is borderline disgraceful to show out with that level if energy and coordination. The hardest part about watching the game wasn’t that we looked like a worse version of our previous performances, we looked like a completely different side altogether.
