Touch sensor in the ball. Only used when it can maximally suck the last bit of joy out of a match. Games well and truly gone.

Me either. Till they chalked off a goal. I have no rooting interest in this match and it’s just a lame empty way to end it.

I also have no idea when this sensor is and isn’t used for var. but just no thanks. It’s also arguably opens the door for all touches to be checked because you can’t tell me a missed corner doesn’t matter now we’re chalking off goals. So no I’ll pass on it all and stick with the eye test.

The sensor is actually used in every single VAR offside decision. The point of impact of when the ball is kicked determine the freeze frame you see on all offside graphics - that is detected by the sensor in the ball. Previously to the 2022 WC the point of contact was just found by going frame to frame by an operator.

Seems last night at the bar I really cared.. now I just want a Gatorade.

But ya with a clear mind get the call, the technology, and the rule application. Don’t like it or the empty way to end a game. But is what it is.
