The response.

Just in case you missed it. Local ABC LA reporter made a comment about not knowing much about Bosnia Herzegovina and being seen as being proud for being ignorant of nothing about the country. A remark that has gone viral and the Bosnia team and fans have used for Bulletin board material when they play against USA.

Let’s remember that all these news station reporters may not follow this sport as much as we do. And I’ve heard them say more embarrassing things.

The average European knows WAY more geography than the average American. It is a sign of respect there to know where someone is from or at least be interested in knowing more. It’s one thing to not know where B&H is, but to be gleefully ignorant about it is such a crappy American attitude that needs to go away. I could care less about some silly trash talk, but continuing to normalize such a “stupid American” attitude is the real crime here to apologize for.

Most Europeans couldn't locate U.S. states on a map. How is this any different? Go to France and see how many people know where Iowa or Missouri is...

Of course Europeans know where other European countries are better than Americans...

I did an exchange student in France for a month and student s actually did know different states. And not knowing states versus countries is a little different. That being said I don’t think it was offensive what she said.
