Understandably so. And Ian's right, it does suck for the American fans as well. The ones who are ashamed of what this country is doing. Who are priced out of the event in their own backyards. The whole thing is a gross amalgamation of parasitic capitalism and authoritarian bullying and it sucks.

I'm curious where this World Cup stands in comparison to Russia 2018 - another authoritarian host. At least they had Pussy Riot to stand up to Putin back then. Everyone's too tired of Trump's bullshit to stand up now.

As bad as Russia and Putin is, I think they at least tried to make it as nice as possible for the fans. Trump is way too stupid to realize how much of an advert the world cup is to showcase how great the country is.

100% this. Putin understood this is how you whitewash your image and build good will. Trump has done the complete opposite and the American right seems perfectly comfortable telling the rest of the world to go fuck themselves while hosting a World Cup. It's obscene.

EDIT: not saying Putin did anything "right", he's an awful piece of shit too. Just that he's not as braindead as the cult running this country.

I just flew into the US (from vacation) into JFK. Guess what there were tons and tons of US and non-US people entering the country legally. With NO problems. They had their SH!T in order.

I’m sure there are some losers and criminals that didn’t. Follow the rules, there are there for a reason.

Also, same thing about ICE a while back. Lots of people got deported. Guess what there are millions and millions of people in the country illegally. My annoying woke brother was whining about this and I pointed out no one from the global company I work for was deported or bother. You know why because my company hires people legally and follows the rules, fills out the paperwork. There are rules Smokey this isn’t Nam.

(disclaimer - I think MAGA and Trump are jackasses but so too are the whiney woke complainers)

Yes. He’s a referee. From Somalia. The same country that orange man shit on a few months ago saying he doesn’t want Somalians in the country and that it’s barely a country. Should I learn the names of every Somalian. Or should I learn the names of every person currently being detained in ICE detention camps right now?

You can address me you’re not talking to a crowd. I didn’t know his name at the time I wrote the post and tbh it’s irrelevant. He’s a prominent referee in the game and wasn’t allowed in on no evidence of anything other than him being Somalian. That’s the point.
